From the Jan. 2002 (I'm a bit behind) Car and Driver, Winners and Losers section: From Forbes FYI. In a feature devoted to "the biggest design misfires in automotive history," the magazine nomitaed Chrysler's Prowler as "the most egregious misfire in the current show. . . a $45,600 Frankenstein's monster built of so many past bloodlines and styling cues that in its eagerness to pleaser everyone, it pleases no one." Guess they never took a Prowler for a drive around the block! This message has been edited by Daryl on 03-02-2002 at 10:05 PM |

quote: That's interesting. Today I simply drove mine to pick up some groceries and before I even got out of my car, I had 3 groups of people slobbering all over the car, telling me how gorgeous it is and the usual. When I returned to my car 5 minutes later, there were people circling around it and people were driving by and stopping and pointing at it. I, like most on this forum, consider the Plymouth Prowler a work of art (the Chrysler Prowler is a different story though ) It's sad these automotive magazine people don't know what they are talking about. Just this morning, I was watching one of the morning shows that had one of the magazine editors on it (I believe C. Van Tune from Motor Trend(?)). Well they had an Eclipse Spyder on there that was clearly a 2nd Gen Eclipse, which was produced from 1996-1999. Well, this automotive "expert" said at least 2-3 times that the car was a 2001 Eclipse, which it could not have been because it was a 2nd gen. I just shook my head, much, like I did when I read the above review. If others do not "get" the Prowler (both Plymouth and Chrysler), that is their problem and their loss. They can continue to drive and rave about their lemming machines. I will continue to drive my Prowler with a smile on my face and not a worry about what their opinion is. ------------------ MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 This message has been edited by William Gallagher on 03-02-2002 at 04:44 PM |

Some journalists are good and some not. Some are qualified to discuss some subjects others not. What in the first place is a writer from Forbes even doing any story besides finance. As they say he just doesn't get it. ------------------ |

The writer probably drives some foreign piece of junk that he thinks is classy or maybe an Aztec. Like Richard said, either you get it or you don't. ------------------ |

Hey William, am I missing the joke here, or are you slamming the Chrysler Prowler in your post? Do you somehow feel the Plymouth version is better. I just bought a Prowler period. Hotrod... |

Well I've had people take my picture while I was driving down the freeway. They have snapped shots while driving the city streets. More pics taken while sitting at red lights. And still more folks snapping pictures while the kat sits waiting for me in parking lots. Think of that...all these lame a$$ people wasting their time, money , and film taking pictures of my ORANGE piece of Frankenstein monster. So to the Forbes idiot....does this happen to you in your whatever piece of sh!t GodZilla foriegn fart mobile you drive???? I seriously doubt it! Hey - Wy. Easy, watch what cars you slander. My first company car, fresh out of college in 1974, was an Orange Vega Wagon with fake woodgrain side panels. Talk about style!! When I pulled into the gas station I usually got 12 gallons of gas and two to three quarts of oil. It burned and leaked so much I never had to actully change the oil! I guess the fact that the company went out of business about six years later could have been forcasted by thier choice in professional transportation for the sales force. ------------------ Driving my Dream |

quote: No, I do not feel the Plymouth version is better than the Chrysler version, and vice versa. There really are no significant differences between the two. However, I do feel that my Prowler is the best of them all. (For the humor-impaired, yes, once again, a joke.) This message has been edited by William Gallagher on 03-03-2002 at 11:19 AM |

Very funny William...but I'm not humor impaired any more than you are. You should understand, and keep in mind that not everyone will react to those kind of remarks the way you say they were intend. Right or wrong, I was offended. We've both had more than our say, so I suggest we do everyone a favor and just drop this here and now. Thanks. I apologize to everyone for not taking this off-line. If you want to make a statement in response to the article in Forbes......I would suggest that you send a letter to the Editor. Emailing the author won't do any good. He already has his opinion and it won't matter what you say. However, a rush of letters to the Editor might get more notice. |

Somebody send Mr. Patrick Cooke of Forbes the picture of the parking lot aerial shot taken at DC's Black T event. Its certainly obvious to me that none of the people in attendance were "pleased" as he wrote. It's certain, indeed, that all those people must have been paid to bring Prowler rentals to the party because obviously, you wouldn't make a conscious decision to actually own a Frankenstein mobile, would you? Perish the mere thought! As a matter of fact, it's even more obvious to me that the people who crane their necks trying to get one last look after we drive by only do so because they, too, are simply not "pleased" with us. Really they're just trying to shout out as we pass by, "You're not pleasing me". Are we deaf to their cries? Just how callous are we? Really, friends, aren't we just doing everyone a disservice by driving around such unpleasant, undesirable "monster". Don't you feel guilty for having played a role in creating such a foul atmosphere? Have we no shame? Mr. Cooke, here's a buck to buy a clue. You don't get it. So, if you don't get it, shut up, because you're not "pleasing me". ------------------ This message has been edited by Paul on 03-03-2002 at 11:10 PM |

Hey, maybe that's why ex-presidential candidate Steve Forbes has that puckered up, sucked on a lemon, look on his face all the time. He's just too hard to please. ------------------ |

Rember the story about Frankenstiein's creation. When people didn't understand it, they wanted to destroy it. I have had people rear end the car in front of them just looking at my monster. Maybe we need to be careful they may want to destroy us. I LOVE MY MONSTER!!!! ------------------ |
