Its Sunday evening around 8 pm and I've just finished washing my Kat. She looks beautiful!!! I'm in the garage the flourecents are on and the radio is singing. I'm kind of tried but looking at the kat really wanting to wax her up. It's only 8pm so I think "yup gonna wax her". I go to my "Auto Cabinet" and grab the Maguires Gold class, at least I thought I grabbed the Gold Class. I dampen the applicator and squeeze out the Maguiers. I waxed the hood and the rear end entirely and go back to the hood to start the removal process. Somethings not quite right, the wax is not coming off or hazing up. I grab the bottle of Maguiers and its Maguiers alright.... Maguiers LEATHER CLEANER. HOLY SH#t...PANIC sets in. I grab a 5 gallon bucket and fill it half way with pretty hot water and add a good amount of Dawn dish washing soap. 45 min. later the Leather Cleaner is off the outside of my Kat. I then proceeded to wax the Kat with the real "Gold Class" wax. Needless to say I'm tired and have had a nice stressful Sunday evening. I got to thinking this is the Maguiers version of the Zaino process. First wash your car, then apply Leather cleaner to your exterior paint in a waxing style, then panic very important part of the process and then wash the entire car again at warp speed with Dawn dish soap, and then finally get the real Gold Class wax out and wax the car buff and you are done. I will be retiring either the Gold Class wax or the Leather cleaner as they look too identical...I don't want to do this again. Maybe its a good time to switch to Zaino. Just thought I'd share my Sunday evening with you. I don't think I hurt anything, just went through a major panic mode. Kat looks shiney and I look a wreck. That can't happen with Zaino. Not only are the bottles different, but the leather cleaner smells like leather, and the car polish smells like wild cherries. If you switch, I am sure you will be happy for more than one reason. I just love the Zaino products. ------------------ |

Or in this case, read the bottles! lol Not funny really, I could feel the panic you were experiencing!! Glad it came out okay! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

Take comfort in knowing your paint won't, split, crack or discolor, and will be a little slippery if you sit on it! ------------------ |

Just to clarify...All is ok now and I don't think any harm was done, but you can imagine the panic and how you would feel when you realize you've just waxed your car with Leather cleaner. Sometimes I do some dumb stuff. Alex ------------------ |

Alex - I feel your pain! But I believe any stress that Marc or you are feeling, is due to the fact that your little Colo. buffaloes have to face the Huskers from Nebraska soon! Glad it came off ok. Do like CJ suggested, |

ZAINO IS THE WAY TO GO, IF NOT THE MOTHER'S REFLECTION I WOULD RECOMMEND NEXT IF YOU HAVE TOO! |

I stick with Zino for all of my waxing needs, however I do use Mequires for the clay bar as it is much less expensive and seems to work as well. The Zino wax and lock are different colors and each smells totally different. On the same subject I too did something like you did only with me it was medicine. As you know, I am 115 years old and I was going to take one of my many vitamins and instead, I grabbed a laxative. Wow what a mess. In any case, as I direct resultof your experience, I have always been careful what I take and step in. Now I shall also becareful what I wipe. Thanks for the lesson and I am glad that all worked out well. Perhaps in order to even things up you should consider waxing your seats. Gotta go as my mailman just left my new spurs that I got from QVC. Gonna strap those beauties on and do some high stepping tonight with old dew bun. She just turned 28 and the little filly can really dance up a storm. Scot ------------------ |

Although I cannot top the leather cleaner, my father was cleaning the windows (inside) on his pickup last Saturday and couldn't figure out why they kept getting worse. He was using Simple Green. |

Nobody has a corner on dumb stuff, Alex. Glad your Kat is okay. Last year we regularly covered our new Kat with the DC car cover, and for three months I was upset about how badly it fit. Then I switched the front to the back and suddenly it was perfect. JMO--We usually can't get things right without first reading directions carefully. ------------------ |

While in Korea in 1966, we lived in quonset huts and had house boys who did all the cleaning, laundry, etc. Whenever someone got transferred back to the States, they customarily left all of their toiletries to the house boys rather than packing it. Our house boy was gargling with Mennen after shave lotion instead of Scope. They both were green. |

ALEX: BUMMER. DO YOU OR MARC EVER GO TO ANY OF DAVE AND SANDY`S CRUISE SHOWS. THEY HAVE ALL SUMMER. I TOUCH DOWN AT THEM NOW AND THEN LONG ENOUGH TO CHECK OUT THE RIDES. NOW AND THEN THERE WILL BE A PROWLER OR TWO THERE. AND I`VE LOOKED THEM OVER TO SEE IF IT WAS EITHER OF YOU. IS EITHER OF YOUR CARS THE ONE FROM HERE THAT DEAN INSTALLED THE NOS ON. ONE OF THESE DAYS WE SHOULD BUMP IN TO ONE ANOTHER. GARY |
