I have been using this digital camera that I own and I am not to impressed with the quality of the photos. Especially on close ups. Does not seem to want to focus on the closer shots. I'm using the Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart C200. It wasn't that expensive of a camera but it sucks. Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for. What are you using, and what did you pay for it? ------------------ |

Bob, after a lot of research I bought a Fuji last year and have been very impressed. I have also tested there two new ones which I believe are the best in the market. The FinePix 6800 is a compact with outstanding quality (6 million pixels) and 3x zoom. The larger 6900 is a SLR type with the same pixels but 6X zoom. Both are outstanding. Having said that, I am sure in a year they will be outdated as this industry is moving fast. ------------------ This message has been edited by Wayne Finch on 09-03-2001 at 08:53 PM |

I use a Olympus 2500L. A couple of years old, but easy to use and takes good shots. Good in macro mode too. 2.5 megapixel, 3x zoom, 32 mb card using flash path and Camedia. Down about 60% in price since I bought it, but that's the way it goes. ------------------ |

We have a Sony Mavica MVC-CD1000 2.1 Megapixel. This one stores images on an 8cm CD-R. I currently have 200 1024x768 photos on one CD and it's only half full, so this beats my older cameras with smartmedia cards. Access time and battery life are pretty good too, and when I close the CD I can stick it in the PC and read the jpegs. We paid $850 and are very pleased. ------------------ |

We have had a Kodak 2.0 MPixel for over a year now. Taken 3600 pictures, very good quality pix, sturdy construction of camera, I'd recommend Kodak highly. I used cnet.com to research features & models and they have a price search feature to find online retailers with lowest prices!! I got mine around $475 when large retailers were selling for $599. Lots of $$$$$ to be saved with a little researching. ------------------ This message has been edited by Andy R on 09-04-2001 at 07:37 AM |

I just picked up a Kodak DX3500 for under $500.00 at Office Max. The reasons: 1. 2.1 mega pix 2. docking bay for uploading to computer & charging 3. rechargable 4. both internal memory and removable compact flash 5. easy to use --point and click-- 6. Camara works great, I have taken 145 pics since 8/20/01 and love it! I hope this helps, take care tsf... |

Have a Sony DSC-S70 Cyber-Shot 3.3 Mega Pixels, does movies also. Been very happy and have gotten a couple of 128MB memory sticks along with an extra battery. Most of the Northern California pictures have been taken with this camera and posted at a lower resolution. Good luck, there are a lot of choices out there right now and it depends on what is important to you. One suggestion is not to get a camera with less than 3.3 Mega Pixels if you want to print some of the photos you shoot. God Luck. ------------------ |

I have a Kodak DC265 2.1 pixels (now obsolete; has been replaced by two newer models). I've had it for 2 & 1/2 years about 3,300 pics taken. I've been very satisfied with it. 8x10 color prints on color paper are very good. If upgrading, i would consider another Kodak. However, I would look & shop around. Wayne's Fuji suggestions sound interesting. And, I would follow Phil's suggetion & get something with at least 3.1 pixels. Unless, you're only using it to post pics on internet, than get cheapest & low pixels... ------------------ |

Laddie steered me toward Kodak and I never thought I would ever buy anything from Kodak but film. I've had a DC290 for 1 1/2 years and it has performed flawlessly. My 8x10 prints come out great and it's simple to use for me and all my family. I also like using the flashcard = easy and almost impossible to damage. |
