After driving approximately 800 miles from date of a Paxton 1000 installation by a professional trained installer, my Alternator went bad. The selling dealer claims it was because the alternator was modified when they installed the Paxton; but the only thing the installer claims was modified about the alternator was a longer pulley, further claiming the alternator would have gone bad regardless. Has anyone else had this or similiar problems? Regardless of who is correct, how can I prevent this from recurring? |

Larry, What year is your Prowler? Several of us have been having problems with the bearings in the early 99 cars. The problem starts out with a vibration at about 1100-1300 RPM's. There were two different brands of alternators used. The problem alternator has a DC part number of 4609093 and the replacement is a 4609300AC (1998-2000 models). I hope this info helps. ------------------ |
