I picked up the car yesturday about 4 and drove about 2 blocks back to work. I Got in it last night and noticed the tech left me with 8 miles til empty! I had between 1/2 and 3/4 of a tank when it was towed. Here's the part that REALLY PISSES ME OFF...... The on board putor said they went 39.9 miles with an avg mpg 9.2!!!! NO FREAKIN WONDER I GOT BACK AND DECIDED I HAD BETTER ORDER THOSE NEW TIRES!! The little bit I had left on them was GONE! I called my advisors and gave them a piece of my mind! I know it wasnt them but they need to know and to pass it on to their supervisors. I told them about the letter and the good experiance I had in dealing with them, but that was ridiculous!!! I can understand anyone putting their foot into it a time or two but for 39.9 miles?? Come on guys....how much is enough? I never met the tech personally but i sure would like to give him a piece of my mind now!!!

Don- I would call the Service Manager and let him know about this. Maybe even the GM of the delaership. That is absolutely UNCALLED FOR! I think he was just out to have fun after he test drove it for repair purposes. Give them h&ll, I would and I know most of us online would. : ------------------ |

Don, I too wnet through that same thing. Got my car back from the dealer and it had 36 miles on it and it was in for the top leaking and low tire light staying on... I contacted the General Manager of the dealer and recieved an apology as well as a free wash and detail the next time in. I asked to see the hardcopy of the repair ticket to see what time the tech clocked in on it. It was just before lunch so I figured he took it to lunch with him and then took a spin. Having been a Service Manager for a number of years I know what goes on in there. Call the GM and raise hell... They need to know.. ------------------ |

I brought my car into the dealership for its first oil change. My car was indoors on the ground waiting for the tech. Im about 15' from my Cat. This guy walks up to the rear of my car, kneels and proceeds to run his fingers lightly over the Dr. Ru sig on my Cat. I said, "Excuse me don't touch my car." The guy didn't listen. So I raised my voice and said it again. Guy didn't stop. So I grabbed him by his shoulders from the rear with 2 hands and rolled him onto the floor. The guy was the service manager. I keep my Cat SPOTLESS. There was his finger smudge on my Cat that I promptly removed when I got home. The manager said he had heard of a sigature and numbering on the Woodward Prowler but had never seen it. I said, "Look all you want but please don't touch." He was very apologetic. I said, "Sorry knocking you over." He wasn't hurt but understood why I did what I did. No harm, no foul. ------------------ |

Hey Nightprowler ... what dealer?? I too am in Chicagoland area, and want to know where this incident happened? I take my Kat to the dealer I purchased the car from in Beloit, where a VERY good friend IS the Service Manager, and he takes exceptional care of my car whenever it has been up there. I experiences the same thing with one of my Vette's once, and it was the GM of the dealership ... it was the LAST time they got any business from me ... Maybe we are just too fanatical?! While waiting to take delivery of my first prowler, a sales rep backed a neon into the front bumper. He hit it hard enough to shake the car and jolt the neon. I couldn't believe it. He got out, looked to see if anyone saw him, then walked away. He never even looked to see if there was any damage done. I walked over to the GM and promptly told him and pointed out the guy. I've always had my doubts about American car service departments too ever since I took a 78 Camaro (new) in to get the tach hooked up (it wasn't from the factory) and they hooked it up but disconnected the a/c in doing it. Took it back for that and they fixed it but, they disconnected the whildsheild wipers. Took it back for that and they fixed it but, disconneted the vacuum hose for the brakes. Imagine finding that out going 70 mph. So, I gave two a try with my second prowler. Both did a horrible job, never fixed the problem and always returned the car dirty and with miles on it. I promptly sold both cars and am finished with American service departments. ------------------ Mods: 2001 Speed Yellow Porsche Cabriolet |

"I promptly sold both cars and am finished with American service departments." So where are you going to get your car serviced? Mexico, I see you are from Gulf Coast Area. I can't believe how many people put down American Workers. What kind of worker are you HiHoSilver? I care, and try to do the best job I can at my job. I bet most mechanics are the same way. I assume you are going to Foreign Car Dealerships….. Manned by Americans. I had a Porsche once. I had to bring it back for a simple fix at least three times each time I brought it in. I needed a new clutch and the whole car had to be dissembled to change it. It cost thousands… I can't remember now how much it was. I will never buy a Foreign Car again. The parts are inflated also. My experience with Prowler Service Departments has been fantastic. I almost can't believe it. I get to talk to the Tech that actually works on my car, and they have fixed my Prowler the first time each time I have brought it in. ------------------ |

It's just like those commercials on TV...."o you ever get a feeling that people just stopped trying?" I have cars that I take GREAT pride in keeping in tip top shape and idiots just don't get that. There is a huge lack of respect for others now a days. I mean, if it's not yours, don't touch it! That is how I was raized at least. And how about those people that go look in the car and their jacket zipper hits your car? I have a gash near the passenger mirror on the door from an idiot that leaned in and rested the front of his hips by this part and his zipper did do the damage. I was enfuriated and since this guy was a stupid hillbilly he didn't care. I confronted him as it happened and he said he didn't do it and that it was already there. Needless to say he didn't let me see his jacket to see if i could have my paint back! I asked him how would he know if it was there before, is the car his, no! I know every single problem that the cars have, and where they are. It just gets me going nuts these people, almost makes me feel like just keep on driving and only stop for gas. ------------------ 2000 Prowler Woodward Edition (red/black-USA) |

Hiho, I try to buy American. Maybe my father's loaded .45 and used dagger from WWII that sit next to my bed have something to do with that. It is a constant REAL reminder. About 9 years ago my wife and I went into a Lexus dealership. Very nice cars as we all know. I told the sales guy that I wasn't ready to buy. He told me, "Well maybe you'll be successful someday and can come back and buy a Lexus." Screw Lexus and that goes for all foreign cars, and the same goes for the uppity attitude of foreign car salepeople the second they say "American cars" in making a relative comparison in their sales pitch. I think that every time I leave my Chicago residence travelling to either of my year-round lake front homes, or when I'm out on my boats, or supporting Republicans to get rid of the 39.6% personal tax bracket. Try getting a foreign car serviced in the country. SOL. You'll have to call a CP dealer for a tow. ------------------ |

In 1988 I purchased an Acura Legend, it was an excelelnt car and during five years only needed two repairs. However the scheduled maintenance to keep the warranty in effect cost me on average $800.00 a year. One time when I took it in for scheduled service a friend dropped me off to pick it up. She had a headlight out on her Honda so she asked how much to replace it there at Acura. The price they quoted her was more than double what Honda charged her in the end. I have friends with BMW's and Mercedes that have had the same experience with the maintenance cost etc. I have driven Cadillacs since 1993 and these also have been excellent cars with few problems. The only thing I have to do to maintain the warranty is change the oil regular. It is not fair to compare the upgrades on a Prowler to a Porche, BMW or Mercedes because it is a limited production vehicle and naturally upgrades will be higher priced. And I know of no other limited production hand built car that you can purchase for 45K American of Foriegn. Just my thoughts on the above remarks. ------------------ |

I really do not get the Lexus guy's attitude... I don't think buying a car in the 30-50 K range makes you successful, what it does do is makes you, MAYBE< middle class. What a dummy... you want successful? Try putting a Rolls in your garage, one for each day o the week. ------------------ |
