Just type in "lift" in the search function and get a lot of info very quickly. There are lots of threads about the topic. You probably won't get nearly as much info for several days, although you will get some replies.

Jim........we chose a four post. The added stability is a great concern to me and I've had no problems with the lift. It's a Cytech Double Park.

If you do a search using the keyword as "lifts" you'll find seven posts on lifts. The one below was from October of last year.

http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/019545.html

CJ - The One and Only
1999 Black - PPROWLR
2002 Deep Candy Red - CJPROWLN
2002 Black California Kid Prowler - CAL KID

The Prowler makes you smile. Why? Because it's focused. It has a plot, a reason for being, a passion. It evokes the hot rod. It evokes the American Dream. This car is the human psyche.

Gemini Lifts is based out of Ft. Worth. They manufactured the lift I have in the Monster Trailer, and make several garage models.

When we had CJ's lift built, we had them make the ramps 12" longer than standard and add safety stops every 6" making it easy and safe to stop it at whatever height is convenient.

Four post lifts are for storing a car with the suspension in the normal position. Two post lifts are more convenient for working underneath cars but the suspension hangs at full extension, not a normal condition.

plan ahead

you have a good start by asking questions

Mine is a Cytech 7,000 lbs 4 post lift with 120 volt motor

and 13' runners

I wish I had known more when I bought it. I would have gotten a bigger lift since I use it to work on many different vehicles. It is too small for my truck and the maxi van, have to fold the mirrors in on Sue's van and the Cadillac to drive on.

I could have gotten one that the runners are 14' and in getting the 14' long it also is wider.

mine does not have stops in the middle, some about 20" off the ground and then the next ones are probably 4'. The ones I have looked at in the last few years have stops more like Bob & CJ's

So what do you want to do with it, store a car on it, work on car?

They have a jack that mounts between the runners to raise the cars suspension for wheel removal, it starts about $500 and up depending on what you want.

I was planning to get another lift. The next one will be a 12,000 or 14,000 lbs lift that will lift a dually truck and the jack to lift the vehicle off the lift. Just waiting to see were I will be living before purchase.

Check out Greg Smith & Complete Hydraulic (Franklin, IN) both have web sites

I've enjoyed the four post Danmar (E - Dannmar D-7 Lift).
Love it, for storage and easy maint. access! My 2-car garage is now a 3-car, and my wife Sue is happy because I didn't have to modify our home taking over her dining room!
Only $2K at following web site two years ago:

Attempted attaching a pic, but too many bytes of info...

CJ, Lori did not like hearing that you and Bob put yours together.. The last time she helped me was to place a 34 Plymouth body on it's frame.. Not sure she wants to start helping again..

To many decisions to make on lifts.

thanks again

Jim.......since they are my cars, it was my job to help. It was quite an adventure to say the least!!!!

The main reason Bob bought me the lift was so that I (yes, me) could get underneath the cars to clean them. True!! Which worked out well, as I'm short enough to stand underneath it without having to stoop!!!

I have a Stinger lift in my stacker trailer. Seems to work pretty well.

www.stingerlifts.com

Pace American (the people who built the trailer and installed the lift) screwed up when they put it in and dragged their feet on fixing the problem. I contacted Stinger directly and got excellent support from them. They solved the problem and absorbed the cost even though it was Pace's fault. I'd suggest giving them a look before you make your final decision.

Stinger looks pretty good, I spoke with Terry and he indicated the build will be 4-6 weeks, Also they say all parts and metal is US made, he was not 100% sure where the steel origin was but was purchase in the USA..

The cost was 3995.00 + shipping..

I may need to push the build back ..

I just purchased the PRO KAR lift. The model number is PK 84XP. It carries 8000 lbs. and is a 4 post lift. It is taller than the standard units so it is easy to do oil changes, etc. I paid $1925 and $400 for delivery and installation. This includes casters to move the unit around, ramps and a jack tray. I looked around and thought it was the best deal for the home owner's use. I would recommend that you also purchase the drip trays to protect the lower automobile from oil drips.
Good luck in your search, You will find many opinions on which lift to purchase.

My lift is a "Snap-on." It lifts my Kat just high enough for me to change my oil and take a nap. LOL

I have two of the Cytech Double-Park lifts as CJ has shown. I love them, and was very pleased with the delivery, set-up and customer support. I did get the longer aluminum ramps - lighter, and made drive up easier for both Prowler and Corvettes.
