Apparently this amateur film was taken in 1992. It features the prototype which was unveiled at the auto show in 1993

This looks like someone brought in a camera during the set prep that was used for the production of one of the Prowler posters given away at the autoshows and dealer show rooms during launch.

No side marker reflector, chrome wheels and the turn signals are farther outboard. The headlights are different also. Neat.

I believe those are the alloy prototype wheels, not chrome?

No door handles,,,,,sweet

Original headlite pods were much nicer than the final production ones, imo.

Looks like a single, center mounted, w/wiper arm?

Notice the soft top roof line....

Didn't the prototype model have the hood opening from the rear, up?

NO sun visors.............

I'm still looking for 2 front wheel with ribs.
If I can ever complete my set, they will go on my car.

larry lord, you could take a set of reg prowler rrs.and add those ribs.most likely wouldnt cost any more than buying the real thing ,if you could find them, and probably cost less.there are a couple ways you could make them.

Larry - the door handles are along the topline of the doors. You can see it in the mag pic you posted. They were flush covers that you pushed down on to open the door.
And yes, there was a door in the decklid for the mechanical top. There was no battery gauge in the dash and the AC controls were in a closing panel center bottom of dash. Door and window controls were on the console.

I won the car at the 10th anniversary giveaway. Here's Brad presenting me the keys.

Mickey,,,yeah, I seen how the doors opened,,,,like the way they do in newer generations of the Viper. What I meant was,,,it sure looks cleaner without the pull-out handles on the sides. I wasn't clear about it,,,,my bad.

Brad wouldn't have given you the keys,,,,he would have driven it off without you

Any body notice the inset on the lower body flare just to the rear of the door.

By the way, any body know the make of the tires mounted on the rims. I love the tread pattern?

I looked over a nine inch model of the Prowler that I bought before I got my '97 and found that it has all of the show car details. One wiper, no voltage gauge, ribbed wheels, door handles on top and outboard turn signals, etc. I've been looking at that thing on my TV for the last 14 years and never noticed. Thanks guys.

Where is the car now ? at the Prowler museum ? Sure would like to see it in person, I love the way the rear fender is wider and flares up at the end with tapered taillights, cleaner bumpers too.

The actual car is on display at the Walter P Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan and, as I understand it, is the only car there that they let people actually sit in...It is beautiful....(the paint is brighter than the purple Prowlers that were sold to the public)...

RPL or CJ are the experts....If you get the opportunity, go see it, as well as the other beautiful cars on display..

I don't think they let folks sit in the prototype. I think it is a regular 97 that folks can sit in.
The POA "adopted" the car folks can sit in, helping to pay for its upkeep due to wear and tear.
I might be wrong about that but I don't think it is the prototype.

I did a search

Ed

You are correct the car you can sit in is a 1997 not the protoype which is kept in storage and displayed from time to time at the museum and elsewhere. THe one on display could have been one of the mules.

Go back and take a look at your "Woodward Dreamcruise 2007" DVD for some great video and stills of that car...and the great party at Chrysler HQ for the 10th Anniversary celebration.
