I think we should consider some restrictions on the way things are advertised and offered for sale in the classified and collectibles section of the forum. It seems we have people who have something for sale come to this site and list the item or items they have for sale. They in many cases have never posted anything anywhere on the site except what they want to sell. They contribute nothing to the site. I think we should impose some rules concerning this practice, perhaps after a newbie has posted in at least four different forum topics they can then sell. I actually believe a newbie should not be allowed to sell, once they lose the newbie status and have shown they are viable contributors to the site, then sell your items. There are sites where people can sell their items, like e-bay or Craigs List, they can use those options. I understand that some come here to offer the things they have for sale as a favor to us, but is that really the case or are they trying to avoid fees by the selling houses like e-bay. With e-bay at least there is some protection when buying. I know some will disagree with this but I don't believe this site exists to be a clearing house for people wanting to sell their stuff and contribute nothing else to this site. Over the past few years I have purchased items from newbies and never received what I bought, I have never bought something from an established member and not received it. That has to tell us something. I am not a moderator but now that I am retired and spend a lot of time on the site, at least a couple hours a day, I would be happy to volunteer my services as a moderator. I just believe we need some checks and balances concerning the selling issues.

I agree. The world is getting full of more and more crooks and with the depression there will be more.

Maybe a required number of posts before you can sell in excess of the newbie status?

I do sell some things on here and also have bought many things. I have never had a problem yet, thankfully. Some members are long time members who never post but read posts. Many members sell their extra items after they sell their Prowlers to many of us at good prices. Without saying names some long term posting members have screwed many members. As always it should be buyer beware. I think it works fine now, if you don't feel comfortable buying from newbie or someone with no post other than selling something don't buy from them. I think we all can make that decision for ourselves. I like to beleive most Prowler owners are a step above average, but there is always the few who aren't. JMO Thanks, Gary

I have been around since Day two or three, not Day one. I have only been slightly burned a couple of times. Most everyone on here is upstanding but there are a few folks who I would be cautious in dealing with, of course.

I have been very fortunate so far. It is a sad day when we cannot trust a post of "for sale" on our site, but like most everyone, there should be some controls on this site.

I don't think that being a newbie is any reason to suspect someone's integrity or motives. A prudent buyer of anything should check out the offer thoroughly and if in doubt, simply refrain from buying.....

Providing a venue to advertise Prowlers and related products is a real benefit for buyers and sellers alike. I doubt someone would have much luck advertising Prowler center caps for sale in their local newspaper for example.
The seller reaches the most likely prospects here on this site and POA members have a great source of supply for items that may someday be very hard to find...

I'm probably considered a buyer.
I appreciate the ads and look for them regularly.

I agree. And if the seller doesn't like it - there is always Ebay.
