Could be an interesting auction as it looks like collector car prices are falling faster than South Florida real estate. Would love a bargain but hate to catch a falling knife. My guess is that we are a long way from the bottom - for both real estate and collector cars. |

I contacted B-J via E-mail to see if they would once again provide some under tent parking for The Florida Kat Pack. I was politely advised that Craig wanted it but for some reason the folks at Blue Oval felt the parking should be for Mustangs and GT's. Forgot DC was no longer a sponser. I did recieve some 60 lbs. of marketing BS and advance listings of cars. This message has been edited by 392HEMI on 03-29-2007 at 03:32 PM |

It sold for $39k,Mike and Steve gave the car good remarks i guess, basically they said about being a expensive collector car in the future, they said the jury was still out on it.But said if you want to be noticed while driving down the road, this is the car that will do it.It was a nice car 1997 with trailer. I stumbled onto the speed channel last night just in time to see the Prowler hit the block. It was a good looking machine for sure. My observation, from what I saw, and the commentary also, there seemed not to be the bidders with money present. Many vehicles were headed out the door at some pretty low $$$. I believe a '57 DeSoto went for $30k. Ridiculous. But then, what do I know Steve.in.Roanoke |

I did hear them say that they look much better without those UGLY front bumpers on them "HeHe" I also noticed they indicated the big money was not their till Saturday, I would really be pissed if I knew they sold my car on the slow day, I would insist they put it on the block the last 2 days or I would not sell it. I think the "no reserve" is just B.S. helps them make all the money. I also heard them continually say they had a premium cost for selling the car is now up to 10 percent PLUS sales tax and I understand the seller has to pay about 7percent. Then the people have to pay about 50.00 to get in and then some more if they want to get pre-registered to place a bid. I'd say Barrett/Jackson has a good deal going. |

I have to agree with Wayne...even though the big money cars have not come up, almost everything I saw last night went for less than the build/restore cost. Must be a lot of sellers in the Budweiser tent crying in their beer...I can't see where any of them could have broken even, let alone turned a profit. When you can get a nicely restored collector car fully done with all the bits and pieces, or a new custom street rod, in the $30's, it's a good deal!!!! |

I have been going to Barrett-jackson for the past five years. Usually sell and buy something. The cars that are cosigned are "Premo". No Junk. Yes, They make a lot of money doing what they do....but they are very professional. They treat the buyers and sellers like a king. They do their best to work the crowd and get the most for each vehicle. Their auction is not just an auction.... It is an event. I can't say enough good things about this auction. I have always had a very pleasant experience with them. You do not get to choose your sale day..... everyone can't be on Friday or Saturday.( those are the best days) I purchased two trucks this year, in January, at Scottsdale. I have them in the classifieds here on the POA. Neither of these vehicles could be built for less than $60,000.00, but I bought them for less than that and they are for sale for much less than that. Their are other auctions...but none like Barrett-Jackson. I had a very bad experience with the "Russo and Steele" auction in Scottsdale. I will post that story another time. I would never return there again. Alley Cat knows that story and has in fact helped me a lot in my recovering my loss. I just want to post some good comments about the Barrett-Jackson folks..... they are good people. ------------------ |

Here is a receipe for purchasing any asset class that has had a big run up for several years: No down payement, low interest, and take a long time to pay. Add subprime borrowers without documentation and shake and bake until burned. |

Well the Foose car just sold for $300,000. I guess it cost big bucks to worship. I'll keep my money to spend on other things and be happy with my Prowlers. |

I just got back from the Palm Beach B-J auction and it was even more packed this year. 5 years ago when I attend the first PB B-J auction I thought it would never last because of the lack of people This year it was a zoon and I'm sure they will break a record for attendence. Like Top-Kat said it right, the B-J auction is an event not just and auction. I love to to see the variety of cars from a 1970 superbird to a Mclaren SLR. Three interesting cars I saw that seemed a little out of place: I wonder what they fetched and who would buy these cars? |

Wayne, This is from STRTOM on the Viper Board in response to my own cars I have for sale - thought it was interesting: "John, These cars are cyclical - remember the early 90's how much they appreciated ?
