First, the bad news... I called the local dealer today to get a set of splash guards for Sunday's "blusbonnet" cruise. I lost one the passenger side (just the bolts, but the flap got vibrated apart). They were not in stock and price jumped to $43.88. Now for the good news... the parts guy was a little confused on what I needed, as the book showed that they only came with the fender. Sooooo, I bought a new fender AND flaps for $43.88!! (No, not really...) He looked outside to look at his service manager's Prowler and didn't see any flaps on hers, so was even more confused. To make a long story short, I asked to talk to her and turned her on to the POA and hopefully found a new member to cruise with! I hope she joins up! Let's welcome her with open hoods if she does! |

quote: With the discount dealers we have, I can get them cheaper paying tax instead of shipping, getting them locally (at least I used to be able to) - no offense to the discounters. I had an arrangement with this same dealer to get a discount. Not 6 months ago the flaps would cost me about $28 including tax. Another local member said he had a local dealer I could get them for $25 + tax, but I never heard back from him on it. Maybe I need to give him a part number? Brian - can ya help me on that? |

Do any of you cut back on the length of your front splash guards??? Mine are still factory length, but the other day I scraped mine when I crossed over a speed bump. No damage, just a scufing of the plastic on the flap. |

When I adjusted my fenders all the way forward, it practically eliminated any flap scraping and it evened them up as a bonus! When I first put mine on, I noticed the passenger side hitting more than the driver side.. then measured and found the bottom of the flaps off by 1/2inch from side to side. By adjusting the fenders forward all the way, took care of it. .... |

Thanks Geno. That matches the number he used quoted me. Looks like I need to do some price shopping again. I find that with the best to go over a speedbump with full flaps is at an angle so you can work one tire at a time. I also notice that when the rear of the fender is closest to the car with the wheel cut, the flap seems closer to the ground for some reason.I now go over speed bumps at an angle with the wheel cut so the fender is furthest away from the car, then cut it back the other direction for the other wheel. Seems to work fine. |
