Flashback....1967...
....I sat in school and read auto magazines from the seventh grade on, I thought that was what study hall was for....I soon discovered that Hot Rod was also very useful during those boring history, english, and math classes, they kept me from sleeping past the bell .....I was not a scholar by any means and barely made it thru school....the magazines took me to places outside my small Indiana hometown, I traveled everywhere thru the car magazines stuffed into my notebook and textbooks....

....One day sitting in math, my last class of the day, I was still trying to get thru the new magazines I had purchased the night before....I saw an ad that hit me like a bolt of lightning, the ad was to become known as the "Woodward GTO" ad during the next decades.....I looked at that sleek '68 GTO in the ad and knew I wanted to have that car....I did end up with the GTO a few months later, I had a decent job and had saved every penny I could get my hands on to buy a '67 Fairlane 427....by the time I had saved my downpayment the fast Fords were gone....I soon decided I wanted a GTO like they raced on Woodward(just like the ad).....

....During the following 30 years I owned a GTO, Chevelle, Corvettes, Hemi Mopars, winged MOPARS, SIX PAKS, SIX BBLS, ....New Castle had a big cruise strip in the sixties that I was out on EVERY NIGHT....just like Woodward, only smaller....I lived to cruise and street race.....I got older but never forgot about that Woodward ad, I still have it...

....My first trip to Detroit was on my birthday about 15 years ago, I went there to purchase a very rare red/red int. 1970 T/A Challenger.....the car had been owned by a racer from Houma La. by the name of Sidney Bonnecarre.....I saw Telegraph Road and Woodward Ave. for the first time.....there was 8 Mile Rd, all the places I had read about during those late afternoon math classes.....

...During the last ten years I have made quite a few trips to Detroit, mostly Prowler and Viper related, even bought a new Vette there a few months ago, but nothing compared to being on Woodward this last week....I was finally there, I was on Woodward cruising in a fast car,a Viper GTS/ACR, along with a couple of million car enthusiasts just like me.....

....There were Cobras, HEMI Cudas, Yenkos, Street Rods, Dodge Daytonas and Superbirds, Vipers, Prowlers, Corvettes and all the cars I read about 35-40 years ago were there....ACE Wilsons "ROYAL PONTIAC" made a pass down Woodward right in front of me....the GTO Judge made his appearance several times during the weekend as did one of my other favorites, a 69 Hurst olds....there were Edsels, Caddys, a Henry J...even an Isetta, you name it, it was there....

...near the end of day on Saturday while walking between 12 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road I happened to look over behind a few park benches and some shrubs, and there it was, a green GTO convertable just like I had when I was 16, a few blocks down the street, there was another one.....In 35 years, I have only seen one GTO even close to the one I owned all those years ago, and here were two of them exactly like mine within' a few hundred yards of each other.....I finally got to Woodward Ave. and so did my green 68 GTO conv, I was now older and fatter, and the GTO belonged to someone else, but it didn't matter....as I stood there looking at the Hurst 4 spd and feeling those familiar fender lines I suddenly felt like time had stood still, if only for those few minutes....
....return to Woodward, oh yeah, I intend to be back REAL SOON.......life is too short ot wait another 35 years, or even one year....I will bring the Snake back to Woodward again before winter and maybe just maybe, I will see the old GTO again.....see ya there....
