Who has a hobby that has a higher priority than their Kat and what is it? |

Last 15 years racing RC boats--12 weekends a year in 3 states. This year the cat will take the top spot as I'm getting burned out on the boats. ------------------ |

How fast do these boats run? |

Depends on the hull design. My slowest boat runs 54 and the fastest runs 83--all gasoline powered. The fastest boats on record are 93 for gasoline powered, 120.5 for nitro power and surprisingly just under 121 for electric power. The record boats are special purpose boats made for straight a way competition, measured through a 1/16 mile course. |

Just wondering, have you ever hit the water at high speed. I see these things happen on REAL TV and shows like it. It amazes me how some of these guys survive at 150 mph+ crashes. |

Earl--RC means "radio control". I try to stay out of the real boats. When these models "blow off" they usually get damaged. I carry duct and packaging tape to the races to temporarily fix the inevitable bumping that happens when 6 or 7 testosterone laden drivers fight for lane choice during a 5 lap oval race. It's a lot of fun. |

WOW, Radio Control at those speeds, I would love to see that. Thanks for the clarification! I learned something... I assume this would be much less expensive not to mention safer:> ) |

I saw your "real car" list one day and fell out of my chair. Do you have an absolute favorite? Which one gets the most attention when driven... This message has been edited by ET on 01-04-2004 at 07:19 PM |

Golf is my favorite Sport for the last 15 years! (I took it up at 34)I love being outdoors, and I think golf courses are on some of the nicest Real Estate in the world. I played Softball 5 times a week for 20 years and loved it. But at 40 when i didn't feel i could play up to my teams standards I decided to just play golf. I used to like to bird Hunt and Fish when i was younger, but when you grow up its hard to find time to do all the things you love. So you have to make choices. Prowlers came along in Oct 2002. I wish i could have made more events last summer but its hard because most are far away. I joined a Country Club in Nov for 2004 season at one of my local Private Clubs. I hope to be out 4 or 5 times a week around 6:30 am to get my round in early. Time will tell how much i play. Season tickets to Jets and UConn Football are Falls Top priority's ------------------ |

Love football and played it four years in Germany. But after two concussions, two broken thumbs, a broken nose, a dislocated shoulder, a badly sprained knee and back injury, I now prefer music and my Prowler. |

ET... The favorite car is usually what is the newest, or the most different....right now I am having a blast with the 1953 / C5......it is like having a Prowler in '97.....the attention is unreal.....I think this may be the most dramatic car I have EVER driven on the street....that includes Prowlers and '69 Dodge Daytonas and '70 Plymouth Superbirds I have owned in the past...Vipers get a good amount of looks also, especially the new SRT with all the custom crap on it, people stare like it is a UFO......I still have a pair of Kats, just not driving them currently....

VERY Striking! I've never seen one of those, but I wasn't driving back in '53. Was this really a production car? |

Bob.... ...this car was a 2001 yellow Vette conv with black interior until a couple of months ago.....I call this car the "Chevy Prowler"....a modern interpretation of a '53 Vette, as the Prowler is a modern interpretation of a '34 Ford roadster....it still retains all stock drivetrain and suspension....here is an "in Progress" picture from a couple of months ago...

You know I thought the body shape looked like a modern vette. When I was little the guy up the street had 53 or 54 Vette and I remember them being short little cars. You've done a very nice job with this one! Congrats! This message has been edited by Bob Miller on 01-04-2004 at 10:43 PM |

I have no hobbies that have priority to the Prowler. That said, my others hobbies are: collecting all items Prowler related, diecast car collecting (I have 400 - 500 in all scales, but I prefer 1/24th) , oil painting, drawing car-toons and going to the movies. I am very soon going to take up air brush art. I just purchased a compressor and the air brush will follow soon. Here is a link to some of my Prowler toons. These are older and I have done more since but this will give you an idea This message has been edited by BeWare on 01-04-2004 at 11:07 PM |

As you might guess, I dive. I took it up for my honeymoon in 91 and figured it was just a one time thing. After you go down that first time, you're hooked. I try to do at least one dive trip every year, but have missed a few years since I started. My first dive was Jaques Cousteau's favorite: Caves of the Sleeping Sharks. It was an advanced dive. As soon as we hit bottom, there was a 9' Lemon shark, which weren't known to be sleepers! After that, I was 6" away, face to face, from a moray eel, after that, spiney lobster, starfish, and, of course, baracuda galore. Not to mention all the other marine life and corals. Its totally another world down there. Coming up after that dive, my smile was as big as my first drive in my Prowler! ------------------ |

Having to work really hard one day a week at a golf course for no pay, I have to take advantage of free golf for two, three, or four days a week . It's a tough job, but someone has to do it! |

Besides working on cars, waxing and cleaning, I guess my hobby is jigsaw puzzles. After I do them, I glue them and make a frame and instant pictures. I guess I do get carried away by size. I do a lot of big puzzles (6000) pieces and the grand daddy of all that I haven't taken out of the box (18,000) pieces 9 ft x 6 ft. That could be an all day job. Oh, by the way Pat's hobby is computers and she does a grand job.
