I think that I am finally going to pick up a prowler and have a couple of questions I hope someone can help me out with.

First, has anyone ever used or tried to use a U-haul car trailer to tow their prowler with? Can you get the prowler on the trailer without extra boards for ramps? Any other tips?

Second, if I decide to drive the prowler home (1100 miles) how often can I expect to stop for gas? If I remember correctly they are rated 15 city 18 highway. Is that realistic?

Third, the prowler is a 2001 with under 300 miles. What has anyones experiences been with battery life when they sit for extended periods of time?

1. RebelBob used a U-Haul trailer for the Crazy Horse trip in 2001. I do not believe he had any problems.
2. Figure on a fuel stop about every 200 miles to be safe.
3. Since I live in Pennsylvania, my car sits for about 5 months. My battery lasted 5 years using a battery tender.

Welcome to POA!

I've seen pictures on this site of prowlers on U-haul trailers, but I believe there are a couple of styles of those trailers around. The lower deck height the better.

Yes, 200 miles on a tank of fuel is a good estimate.

The battery should last as long in this car as any other. You just need to pay a little attention to it if the car sits.

Good luck!

Driving it would be a lot more FUN

Yes I have seen 2 guy's haul there car on a U Haul, not sure about loading without some boards for extra clearance.

Gas mileage.....many of the gauges are not acturate, so do not trust it. The best thing is to fill it up and after the 1st 150 miles fill it up and figure mileage.

I can go 175~200 miles pulling my trailer with AC on without problem of running out of fuel.

My last long trip I run with it locked in autostick, 4th gear, and my mileage was 22~24 MPG pulling the trailer at over 70MPH. This gives you 200 miles with some fuel to spare. (1) I do not like to walk for fuel, (2) running it empty is hard on fuel pump (mounted in tank and the gas helps cool it) and (3) picking up junk that could be in the tank and clog the filters.

Buy it and drive it home. You will love it

I had to use a uhaul trailer to haul my wifes katt back from Whyoming, had just purhcased it in Michigan. Punch big whole in the rear tire on the interstate, none in stock, 4 days to ship and closest place per goodyear to make repair was salt lake city, utah. Rented truck and trailer and hauled it home. I recommend having an elevated spot with a small rise to back the trailer up to. Have the katt on the high ground and pull on the trailer that way. Clear as mud. Computer skills are limited tried to draw pic and inport but unsuccessful. Good luck and you can take katt to uhaul and line it up and discuss with them. Tires are tight fit but it does fit. More fun to just drive it home and save the headache.

I agree with all of the above. Batteries are the cheapest thing on the car. If the battery dies you are out $ 50. My battery is still going strong after 4 1/2 years without ever being charged.
Keep the car stock, like me. (except for the mods)
