I have had many cars that I have built, altered, modified in some maner, as many of us have. When I first saw the prowler at a new car show I told my wife when I get this car it will be the first car that I will not touch. It's perfect how can you alter perfection. Her reply, RIGHT. Has anyone else felt this way about thier car. 2 cents? ------------------ |

I know what you mean! I alternate between thinking of gears and stuff and thinking it's everything I ever wanted just the way it is! Luckily, aftermarket parts for the cat are so expensive that I will probably be 'forced' to leave it stock. ------------------ This message has been edited by sunbird on 01-19-2002 at 12:52 AM |

You know what????? I also said the same thing, but now my car is starting to look like a rolling bill board for Norb and TGF but I think it only looks better now and more a personal extension of me, if I make my goal and get a second one I wont make any changes (oh yah) ha ha ha ------------------ |

When I first got mine I thought it was a sacrilege that people were customizing their cats. They were already perfect. What could you do to improve them. That was before I painted the bumpers and put the chrome edges on the grill, and got an upgraded shift bezel and chrome shift knob and now I am polishing the frame, which proves beyond a doubt that I have lost my mind. I also thought it was totally goofy to get together with people you did not know simply because they had the same car as you did. That was before we went to Grand Canyon, Deadwood, Woodward and The Blue Ridge Pkwy trips. We are going to Louisville in May and Colo in June and Woodward in August. It has gotten so bad that last week I admitted I was wrong and Sasquatch was right. My life is in a shambles. Damn I wish it would warm up about 30 degrees. I am ready to go. ------------------ |

Al - To claim you are NORMAL being involved with the likes of Ed and myself, it may be time to visit the couch! Ed - thanks for admitting you were wrong, and I was correct. Actually, it was Sandy, not you, that has brought us closer together. She is a keeper my friend! ------------------ |

Yeah Al, When I first bought mine I thought the same thing. Three months later, exhaust, air patrol and shift boot. 9 months later gears. 15 months later intake and nitrous. 20 months later chrome brake calipers, vinyl flames and shimmers. Now headers and custom exhaust, high-rise-dual throttle body intake manifold with 6 nitrous injectors and a hole in my hood. But hey, I still have all the stock parts. Even saving the peices from the hood. You never know, I may want to retire the car someday. Naaaa probably not. ------------------ |

I believe "to each his own" but I had opportunity about a year and a half ago to buy a Hemi Cuda that had been "pro streeted" narrowed rear, roll cage, the works, for $18000. Restored original, the same car -- closer to $118,000. Do the math! Twenty years from now, when all cars are electric or hybrid, the Prowler becomes the next Hemi Cuda. No way do I modify, but like I say "to each his own." ------------------ |

As many have said before me I bought my Prowler not as an investment but to enjoy it. The way I see it the modifications I have donee and hope to do have two effects. One it makes my Prowler unique to my tastes. Two I feel many of the things I have done to enchance my Kat are things that DC probably didn't do to keep the cost down. Also so far, with exception of my painted bumpers the modifications are easily changed back to original. This was not done on purpose, but because many of the aftermarket accesories are designed with just this in mind. ------------------ |

My eyes want to pop out when I look at the Prowler! After 5 years looking at it, I'm gettin one. I have had so many people try to talk me out it... This car is one of a kind, cool looking, bad to the bone! I love the late 50ies and 60ies Corvettes, they still look hot. When I see the C4 and C5 I dont take a double look. I have own both C4, C5 there nice cars and thats what they are nice cars. The Prowler is the best design and will look hot forever! |

R/T That hemi Cuda is 30+ years old and an Icon of the age of HP. Restored original? Anything can be restored from any condition. In 30 years mine will have had to have been restored because it will have been worn out from all the fun times of driving it. ------------------ |

Marc - don't tell me it is going to take you 30 years to wear out your car - at 1/4 mile at a time, how many miles is that??? I guess since I have already put 22000 miles on mine since last May, mine might wear out sooner than others unless I keep doing things to it all along. I really don't plan on ever restoring it to original. Even now, it would be cheaper to buy one in original shape than to try to convert mine back to that condition. Now that production will be over, the value of the mint condition cat will probably go up a lot over the years. But if you dream about cars, it is a safe bet that even if they did build our dream car it isn't quite what your dream has been. Yeah, the aftermarket stuff is expensive, but if you sprung for the cat, why not go for the rest? For once in our lives we did the customizing the way we really wanted, and now driving Basic Black Cat with flames is pure joy! I bet that in the years ahead the customized cats will probably be worth almost as much as the unmodified ones. ------------------ |
