"Low Tire" keeps coming on after self recalibration. Fixed the problem, but it keeps coming back on after I drive like 30+ miles. So what's the deal?

I thought someone said to inflate tires to 50 lbs and then start car and drive a mile or so then deflate to proper pressure. And then that should fix the problem.

I might be wrong.

Gary: That's how I fixed the problem with my car. I've had to do that twice in the past three years. Usually in the Spring when I get the Cat out.

Brian - I don't have the answer, but your reference to:

"SELF recalibration" flew up a red flag to me!

Just kidding, don't take it personal.

Brian;

I am currently having the same problem. I called my Tech at the DC dealer. He told me that that self-cure won't work. If you have a 99 Prowler there was a tech bullitten raising the tire prsessure to 32 front 36 rear, not the pressures listed on the door frame. He said to try raising the tire pressure to these numbers and the driving abiut 15 min and it should work. I am currently waiting for the rain to end here . It has been raininf for about 4days.

Brian,

you could have a sensor battery that is going bad too, If raising the pressure like Gary suggested or increasing to 32/36 doesn't do it, have it checked at dealer to see if sensor is bad in one of the wheels.

I was told by the manager of the tire store that dismounted my tires to send wheels out to be chromed that they are common sensors and about $80. Guess we need to start looking before a bunch of us need them.

Well, it finally stopped raining so i took out the Prowler went to a filling station increased the tire pressure as the tecxh told me and guess what? it didn't work!!! I guess i'll have to bring the car into the dealer and let the tech find out what the problem is.
