Set vehicle to begin loading on trailer, then back up to lower the trailer bed. Load Up Drive or winch vehicle to load position. Drive Off Raise trailer and vehicle by pulling forward, secure vehicle and trailer and drive off.

Mine works the same, the Texas Rollback is a little better BUT MORE MONEY, A grand. 5 minutes to load or unload and drive down the road. Glad to see you posting on the Board again. Thanks for working a deal for the people that need one of these trick trailers. ------------------ |

David - do we have to get the trailer in Texas or can we get it from a local dealer (if there is one)? I was looking at a Texas Roll Back 16' with a nose cone but right now my problem is where to put it when I am not using it. ------------------ |

Just got off the phone with Lewis E. He spoke with Dean Sloan and he will do them with nose cone and all the goodies including storage boxes behind the nose cone... about $3200.00 tax included. Locals can pick them up and long distance will have to arrange delivery with him. Great trailer at a great price, and VERY well made! Also note these trailers are 18'... ------------------ This message has been edited by PaulR on 05-24-2001 at 03:04 PM |

The difference is the paint is way better on the Texas rollback. Better over all fit and finish. The torsion ride is cool but they tend to break. When I looked at the Sloan they had some trailers there for over 4 monthes and the paint was still soft, I could even still smell it. But still a good valve. I checked out both and went with the Texas Rollback, I would suggest you do the same and then make your choice. One more thing I think the Sloan has 1 or 2 more degrees of angle to the loading of the car to the ramp. Mine clears by an inch or so now. Remember the Rollback has the notched ramp area for extra clearance, the Sloan doesn't. But what I would do is load the car up and check the clearance. Better safe than sorry. Thanks again for trying to get the group purchase together for us. ------------------ |

Wow, I'll have to redo my research from last year on the Texas. I've had my Sloan for about a year, used it to haul coast to coast. No problems at all. This is my second Sloan. Silly me, when I bought my Viper with the Sloan, I figured I'd never need the trailer, and I was having a hard time getting the car from MN to WA...so I told a friend (who was storing the car while I was in Italy) that he could HAVE the trailer (in lieu of storage fees...not that he was charging...I just figured it was fair). The catch? Oh, he had to go pick it up if he wanted it! Then I said "While we're there, we might as well pick up my car as well!!". It was a win-win deal as he wouldn't let me pay for anything the whole trip. Then it comes to pass I need a trailer to move the car to the East Coast!! I never noticed much of a difference in the running gear, but I'll differ to Gary as he HAS one. I know the rear end of the deck is different. Clearance is CLOSE! I usually put a 16" length of 2x6 at the ends just to give the nose a little help. I think either way you go you won't be disappointed really. Someday, Gary, we'll get them side-by-side and do a compare...and we can author a segment on trailers!!! PS. If the rain clears here tomorrow or so, for the benefit of those who have never seen it work, I'll hook it up and shoot a little clip. Heck, Gary might have better weather than me and beat me to it!! ------------------ |

quote:I'm here to tell you that THAT is a grreat deal!!! I've seen used one (one year old) go for around $3K+, and you're talking about brand new! For what you're saving you might seriously want to consider the optional spare tier AND the winch!!! I'll be adding these soon I hope...but I didn't pay UNDER $3K for mine!!! ------------------ |
