I wanted to let everyone know that Patrick Foster is in the hospital in Oklahoma City having surgery on his spinal chord. This is a very serious procedure and he as well as his family could use our PRAYERS. PLease take some time and keep him in your prayers. We all know how he has touched our hearts. I have had the opprotunity to get the t-shirt we signed at GC to his Dad and it will be framed. Thanks again for everyones concern and I'm sure the Foster family appreciates all the prayers. FYI- Childrens Hospital, OKC 405-271-5877 His Dad will be reading him all our posts, so let him hear from us!

Just got off the phone with Jim Foster. Patrick is doing FINE. He had a rod placed on his spine to help with the scholiosis. The MD had started this as well. He was also talking with Gary C at the same time, so I DO beleive Patrick will be aware of all the extra PRAYERS. Thanks to all and here is the address for anyone that would like to send Patrick a card( or prowler). Patrick Foster Keep all the great thoughts coming!

Thanks to all for your kind gestures of support. Patrick was reminded of his Prowler Day when JP Roberts made an appearance. It was certainly good to see you again, JP, Patrick was really uplifted by your visit. We had the opportunity to show the news spots to some doctors and nursing staff. They all echoed the same theme, that the Prowler owners are a great group displaying kindness not seen often in today's society. It was nice to brag on ya'll for everything you have done for my son. I especially was pleased with the phone call from Gary "Prowler Man" Cleverly. Thanks so much for your kindness. This has been an ordeal for us, but things have turned out very well, relatively. Patrick lost almost two liters of blood, but his blood count was quite high because of blood building hormone shots given him prior to surgery. His hematocrit level was up to 54 (normal is 32 to 46, I am told) before surgery. His level now is around 31 which is just below normal. The doctors used techniques to salvage his own blood and reinfuse it so that a blood transfusion would be unnecessary. Patrick will be released when his wound stops seeping fluid and pain control is accomplished with oral medication. I would think that will be at least another 3-4 days. In the meantime, physical therapists will help him to sit up, to sleep on his side, and to exercise to some extent to promote healing. To give you an idea of what occurred, the surgical team put about 8 hook-like attachments on each side of the spine 'knuckle' and ran a titanium rod through those hooks to straighten his spine (scoliosis is quite common in MD kids and must be fixed to prevent restricted lung movement that may lead to potentially lethal respiratory problems). The surgeons grind part of his spine to wound the bone so that the bone will begin regrowth. They take his bone 'sawdust' and combine it with ground bone from a cadaver and sprinkle it over the spine and rods. The spine bone will grow to the sawdust and calcify over the rod. This is a simplified version of a truly miraculous process that may add years to Patrick's lifespan. Anyway, Patrick and our family deeply appreciate the support that Prowler owners & enthusiasts have demonstrated. You all must sleep very well at night. I might add that Patrick was quite pleased with the t-shirt signed by the Grand Canyon Cruise participants. He thought the shirt was pretty keen. Also, thanks to Judy and Mike Krehel for the CD of pictures taken by those chauffeuring our family to the Wichita Mountains. Judy, Patrick really enjoyed the Prowler Cookies, we made sure we took his picture before he devoured them. I want to reiterate to those who came up October 14 that I will be happy to email pictures of your car if you will remind me which car you belong to. I'll have some time while I am at Patrick's bedside, so don't be bashful. Thanks again to all for your support. Jim Foster family Jim Foster |

Patrick and Jim, It was nice to see you again. Patrick, you keep up those good spirits and Jim, keep up the great work of keeping Patrick in good spirits. I'll be back for another visit up there before you even realize I left. To everyone else, Keep those prayers coming, they appear to be workin' like a champ. His recovery from the surgery is going extremely well. I fully expected Patrick to be in pretty bad shape. I was happy to be WAYYYYYY off base. He was quite chipper in fact. Happy to see me. He even showed it by "displaying" the red jello he had eaten earlier. Amazingly enough, he didn't miss a beat. We all had a good laugh about it. He told me that it tasted the same BOTH times. It was cool. While there, I was able to see all the news clips from all three TV stations. That was awesome! Some of the clips are quite good. They even have one close up of Patrick remote starting my Kat. I was seriously diggin' that one! Jim also showed me the videos that others had taken during the "Patrick Dream Cruiz". Pretty neat. I even got to meet more of Patrick's family, notably Grandma and Grandpa. Again, reinforcing what an AWESOME family he has. They were extremely nice and accepting. I feel like a friend of the family. Not to leave anyone out, I also got to see Patrick's gorgeous Aunt too. While I was there, Patrick's Mom arrived with THE GC t-shirt. I'm now one of the fortunate few who have seen this shirt, but wasn't there for the event. Maybe the next one. Everyone feel free to call, post, write, e-mail, etc. to enforce to Patrick the knowledge that the Prowler family is with him ALL THE WAY!!!!! Even a simple post to wish him well goes a LONG way with him and his family. In fact, had it not been for Paul's original post, I wouldn't have even known that Patrick was in my backyard here in Oklahoma City. Thanks, Paul. I hope in the future that more of the Kat owners get to experience meeting Patrick or someone like him. It truly is a feeling NOT to be missed. ------------------ |

Patrick is going home today, we're mighty glad this chapter is over. He is doing well, his blood count continues to increase and the measures we took to prevent pneumonia have worked so far. All three doctors that checked on Patrick, most of the RN's, and several student nurses have seen the video and news reports of his Prowler Day in October. The autographed shirt from the Grand Canyon Cruise was a big hit. We were proud to convey to others the your kindness you all have shown, they all were touched by your generosity. We continue to be surprised at the number of owners who are expressing their concern tangibly. We see names and return addresses that are new to us (as well as names we are familiar with) on the mail Patrick receives. Ya'll never cease to amaze us. Thanks to all who sent him a gift, a card, a phone call, or a visit in person. Patrick will be sending notes of thanks to you individually. But gratitude is difficult to express to those who were thinking of Patrick and those who took the time to include him in their prayers, I think that is the most valuable gift you could give him. Most sincerely, Jim, Donna, & Patrick Foster |

So pleased to hear that Patrick is on the mend. Thank you for your kind words to us. Patrick is lucky to have such a great family who gives him all the love and support he needs and he should be very proud of himself, as he is one courageous boy. We have to ask ourselves if we could handle such a situation if it was happening to us or someone in our family as well as you and Patrick have. I would hope that I would have the same courage and conviction that Patrick and his family have. God bless.....CJ |

Jim, Donna & Patrick- I am sooooo glad to hear the GREAT news As I sit hear trying to get over the flu that has taken over my body, I thanks God that Patrick was able to come through this and able to be on the mend so that we can get him back up to Mt. Scott on a clear day. Patrick, I don't believe you know how much of our hearts you have touched. As CJ said, I don't know how any one of our families would react to having to deal with such adversity. It is absolutely wonderful to hear the great stories of your recovery. Please egt well soon and get ready for some more PROWLIN'! May God bless all your days and your family for providing such a gracious smile on their no matter the adversity.
