spoons	I am just wondering if any other Prowler owners with a TGF rear spoiler have had some or all of the LED's burn out of the 3rd brake light? TGF wants $55 for a new light...but I am not sure I can remove the old one and install the new one without having to remove the spoiler off the car.
alrtg	I have one on my Kat but since I am typically in the Driver's seat I don't get many chances to check. I tried once by pressing on the brake pedal then running around to the back of the car to check but was never fast enough. I got tired of trying and simply have to hope it is working. Ed M. Any suggestions?

d'niro	Spoons - its been awhile seens I helped a friend replaced his 3rd light, but I believe its the lens (the red plastic lens) that you are replacing, we didn't have to remove the spoiler - just unscrew that lens and disconnect the wire and reconnect the new lens. Nic

LOL Actually when I want to check brake light function I simply go to a shopping center after dark and back up in front of a storefront window and look at the reflection. When I got my Kat,the tail lights had been tinted (PAINTED) black. EVERYONE that followed me took the time to let me know about the poor visibility. I replaced the tail light lenses as quick as I could find a set.
spoons	Is there any way to get the LED light out without removing the spoiler? Sounds like the LED burnout is an issue. LED's are not suppose to burn out and last 10X longer then a standard bulb...so what gives?

d'niro	there are 4 screws that attach the lens (the red plastic)to the spoiler, unscrew does and pull the wire and disconnect. look under the spoiler (the red plastic lens area) and you'll see the screws or use a mirror to see under the lens. nic

catfish	down the road,all these car manufacturers that use and think leds are cool,are just waiting for the leds to burn out so they can sell them a 125.00 tailight.the leds in tailights are not replaceable.you must buy the complete lite. ------------------
spoons	I was able to remove the third brake light on the car using a right angle screw driver I bought at Harbour Frieght for $2.99 http://www.harborfreight.com/8-piece-right-angle-screwdriver-92630.html I am on the fence weather to re-run the wire thru the spoiler or cut and splice the new one brake light. BradleyG	Brian, Since I have a BlackTie, I didn't want to drill a hole in the deck lid, so I drilled a hole in the 3rd brake light cover near one end and ran the wire straight up into the spoiler. Then I used black silicon to seal the holes and wire. There is only about 1 inch of wire from the spoiler to the 3rd brake light cover that you can't even see unless you are looking for it. It has been like this for 4 years without any problems. Nobody will ever know the wire is exposed except for you and me. LOL
spoons	I have finally installed the new 3rd brake light into the spoiler on my Prowler. There is a fundamental design flaw with the Prowler Spoiler. The brake light is designed flat while the spoiler is designed with a bowed. It's like putting a square peg in a round hole. The flat brake light housing presents a problem because after only a few years the brake light develops stress cracks due to bowed surface it is installed on. I have only had my Prowler spoiler for seven years and I have already had to replace the light once due to cracks in the housing which cause the LED's to burn out. I do not feel like replacing this light every 5-10 years. I have sent an email to Metalcrafters informing them of this issue; so we shall see if they correct the design. Attached below are three pictures of the cracks that my third brake light developed over 7 years. The photos do not depict the cracks very well. The last photo below depicts the clamps I had to install in order to properly install the flat light on the bowed surface. This message has been edited by spoons on 06-22-2010 at 08:54 PM

spoons	Metalcrafters response was... the design is over 10 years old and there is not enough volume to look into fixing the problem.

That is just not right for what they cost. Companies are too focused on the numbers, and just don't care about quality and service. If they would take care of customer service the numbers would take care of themself.
