GA Sixth District held special election to fill Tom Price's Congressional seat yesterday. Democrat Jon Ossoff ran against 1 other Democrat , 2 Independents and 11 Republicans. Democrats & Liberals thought to make this election a referendum against President Trump and to pump up their constituents. Not only does Jon Ossoff not live in the 6th District,95% of the $8.5 Million his campaign raised in the first quarter of this year came from outside Liberal politicians and celebrities. More than $1 million raised for his campaign was raised through the liberal Daily Kos website. In fact only about $1 in every $20 he collected was from Georgia.
He needed more than 50% of the vote to win. He only received 48%. (barely better than Hillary did in this district) The combined vote total of the 11 Republicans did exceed 50%, but that also was just barely. The amount of votes received by the other Democrat and the 2 Independents was negligible.
To put what his campaign spent in perspective the Republican whom he will now face in a June 20 run off only raised $437K for her campaign. Seemed as if whenever you turned on the TV one of Ossoff's commercials was running.
I am proud of GA for not letting outside money and influence dictate our elections.
