reechee | Preface, The owner or this flag should have taken it down before the storm started. http://www.msn.com/en-us/video/be-prepared/battered-american-flag-refuses-to-quit-against-hurricane-florence-winds/vi-BBNlakz?ocid=mailsignout

StingRay | You feign care for OUR flag yet you support and endorse those that kneel and disrespect it on a weekly basis ... such hypocrisy .... |
Landscape Doctor | That flag reminds me of the current leader of the free world,,,, unrelenting resilience.....Just sayin.. |
LSK | From the local news report I saw the other day, the owner was not allowed back to his business to take down the flag because of the rising flood waters. His normal practice is to replace the flag as needed and to take it down in storms. I also second what StingRay and Landscape Doctor said. Reechee doesn't seem to care one damn for our flag unless it suits his politics. Shout praises when idiot football players disrespect our flag and then condemns a patriot when he flies one. |
robin | To me with no dog in the fight and I don't need any replies. The Flag represents both sides and the best of America. Strong and Free. That flag took a pounding and kept waving through days of a unrelenting Hurricane. Just as you all did in 911 you got up dusted yourselves off and moved forward. Yes there is a divide in your country right now show me one that isn't struggling to strive and survive. But attacking each other is useless. I come on here to escape from the grind of everyday news 24 -7. this that and everything else going on. I wish I had and answer to these problems. Just like our prowlers we all have different favorite colors. Just because some people choose yellow. Does that make them any less human than us. (well maybe just a little !!!) just kidding lol Point is please keep the political where it needs to be in the pot section that's all anyone can ask. I know i have dipped my toes in the messed up banter. Failed attempts at humor. I will only participate in car related topics from here on out. thanks

reechee | ALL Americans own the flag. Not just a self-selected few. |
Landscape Doctor | If All Americans own the Flag then ALL Americans should RESPECT the Flag,,, just not the SELF-SELECTED few who don't. quote: Originally posted by reechee: ALL Americans own the flag. Not just a self-selected few.

ed monahan | Turns out the business owner is a Democrat. Whoda thunk it!!!! |
SirReal | YES ALL Americans should respect the flag. That includes the President of the United States who cowardly used the Flag as a political protest against Senator John McCain. That puts him in the same group as kneelers and flag burners as far as I am concerned and trust me I am concerned. |
reechee | I just wanted to post something nice about old glory and somebody had to make it political. This message has been edited by reechee on 09-19-2018 at 12:06 AM |
StingRay | So Reecheee ... you admit that the NFL kneeling is a political gesture against the American flag and that they have crossed the line of entertainment vs politics - thank you for acknowledging that. I too embrace and admire the resilience of that flag in the photo - and for someone to take a knee against her is truly disrespectful. |

Not true - he followed stated protocol ... some unhappy that it was returned to full staff at the conclusion of that standard protocol so then OUR President honored their wishes and placed at half mast again. |
silverkat | Absurd to say President Trump disrespected our flag. His entire presidency is about respect for America and our flag. His predecessor, however, showed his disrespect almost daily and it was painful to have to endure it. Good riddance. |

When ever did you post something like this that you weren't trying to make political ??? |
ed monahan | And now for the rest of the story. A local family saw the story and bought the flag at auction for $ 10,100 (I THINK that was the final price). They bought it to honor their brother, (who also would never quit). The flag was nicknamed Kevin and the Caruso family bought it to honor their brother Kevin.
