padrooWhat will happen to collector cars when the baby boomers are gone? Will the next generation have the interest or the money to carry on with all the old cars they will be inheriting? Things don't look too bright for their future as a whole.
SirRealLast night I saw a vid shot I believe in Tokyo of a big car show and there were so many American built Hot Rods and Muscle cars there. It damn near broke my heart! They looked like POW's. Grrr

Unless our kids dump the iphones our treasures are doomed to be exported. But I do believe in miracles sooo there's always that. (sigh)

On a brighter note I see younger children at car shows that still get lit up by cars. So maybe that generation will pickup where the Millies dropped out.

Time will tell.

ed monahanModel A's and Model T's used to bring $ 30,000 and sometimes a lot more. Now you can get a fabulous one for $ 12 to 15K. All of those folks have died or gone to the rest home. The demand isn't there. Times change, the muscle cars will start declining in price, for sure. The kids like the ricers with the engines that sound like vacuum cleaners or old Japanese dirt bikes.
Dave MillsMy 1928 Plymouth has declined in value to the point where it is barely worth what I paid for it in 1987. I can sell it to be cut up as a street rod, but I am not inclined to do that. As far as the car's future, I think that remains to be seen.

Landscape DoctorI agree with you padroo,,, I am 48 and my generation has no desire for old cars. At this point I would say interest now starts in the mid late 50 year olds. You go to car shows now and you see very few young people. Very sad,,, chalk another one up to social media.

garysssThere are still a lot of us 50, 60 & 70 years old around, so it's not going to happen over night. There are lot more of these age groups that don't have old cars then do.
BeWareWe have 23 Grandkids. Out of the 23 very very few show any interest in old cars of any flavor. Our Son Mike and his Son Dallas (age 22) both are official car nuts. Mike has a 78 Ford Pickup and Dallas has a 67 Mustang. Mikes daughter Nakoma , her boyfriend has a Old 60's era Pontiac Bonneville and a 27T Hot Rod Roadster. The Prowler will eventually go to Mike and then on to Dallas.
