BeWareI am an American by birth and southerner by the Grace of God. Most of these things only require that you live or have lived in the south, not necessarily that you grew up here.

I asked for sweet tea while in Michigan and they did not serve it. You had to sweeten it yourself.

padrooMany year ago my wife and I visited my aunt who grew up in Pennsylvania but married a man from Michigan. We were eating a picnic lunch outside and I asked for sugar for my iced tea and one of my younger cousins made a big deal out of it, she had never seen anyone put sugar in their tea.
