Drew | George just might give you the raspberry! |
Simonsez | Let's see Gary...you posted this when? |
Landscape Doctor | This is for Ed,, the caped crusader. http://www.cnbc.com/2018/08/23/sears-is-closing-46-more-stores-heres-where-they-are.html |
ed monahan | On a related note. A couple of weeks ago, helping a neighbor, we broke a Craftsman 3/8 socket. First time I have ever broken a socket. I exchanged it Monday in the Northgate Mall store, which is closing next month. We were attempting to change his rotor, using a torx bit and the socket split. It was a T55 torx. |
TLRandall | Just learned that our Sears in College Station Texas is closing too. Might as well, the shelves have been bare for more than a year, there is nothing in there to buy but leftover junk. I bought some "Premium Heavy Duty" garden hoses there last month, both of them burst the first time I used them. |
Landscape Doctor | My local Sears in Salem NH is closing as well. Very sad, I worked there when I was 16. |
padroo | Sears is the only anchor store left at one of the local malls. I need to check I haven't been there in a while. Malls seem to be a thing of the past. |
mslc10 | Malls were THE meeting place! Remember “mall brats” “fast times at ridgemont high” Malls are being replaced by social media. Sad! |
ALLEY CAT | Drove by a Sears store in Nebraska last weekend,,,still open with customers = shocking! K-Mart took Sears right down the crapper.... jmo |
Landscape Doctor | K-Mart had that aweful distinctive terrible odor in the store. I could never shop there for that reason.

Maybe it could be that many of the employee's and / or customers may not put personal hygiene high on their list of priorities. It kinda results in that aroma that seems common with the homeless and second hand stores. |
ed monahan | I heard the big quarter turned out to be a half-dollar but no one under 20 ever saw one before. |
garysss | Ed I have a lot of 50 cent coins, I keep them with my $2 bills, next to my rotary phone. Lol |
ed monahan | I knew you were way before your time. |
ALLEY CAT | Ed is busy playing in the rain, so here is the update: . Sears Goes Bankrupt, Mired in Debt and Deserted by Shoppers . . http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/sears-goes-bankrupt-mired-in-debt-and-deserted-by-shoppers/ar-BBOonxR?li=BBnb7Kz This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 10-15-2018 at 08:03 AM |
bjprowler | Sears is a perfect example of what happens when a company who is great at what they do decides to venture into businesses that they have no expertise... "Sears sold everything from Craftsman tools to Kenmore appliances, but it lost its footing in the 1980s with expansions into financial products such as banking, mortgages, insurance and credit cards". There is a reason why a successful company like Domino's Pizza doesn't sell hamburgers and McDonalds doesn't sell pizza.

BeWare | I bought a storage unit for two extra large trash cans from Sears. It was manufactured by Suncaster but had the Craftsman logo on it. A week later I saw the exact same unit at Walmart just without the Craftsmen badge for half the price. Haven,t been back to Sears since. |
