SimonsezI was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. President Kennedy was in town. We positioned ourselves in an isolated part of his parade route to see him. As he drove by I took this picture (I almost missed him). He looked right at us, smiled and waved. Who could ever imagine less than 24 hours later he would be killed.

That is the same car. Inside is Governor Connelly and their wives.

This is Air Force One leaving Kelly AFB.

ALLEY CATGreat pictures Bruce.....you have a treasure there to keep.

I notice the stopped (or moving) cars on that street with the presidential motorcade....... That isn't allowed to happen any longer...when the prez visits our town, the street are cleared completely of all traffic except local law enforcement and Secret Service vehicles.

StingRayVERY cool photos .... some serious memorabilia there!

Yeah, traffic is snarled for hours when Nobama comes to visit Chicago ... just too bad he doesn't land at Midway and take the southern route up through the city to his former neighborhood -

garysssGreat shots and story Bruce. Thanks for sharing.
catfishi dont think obama wants reminders of where he came from.the projects of chicago,a nice place to visit,in the daytime only.used to write ests. on potential repos for a ins.co,cause they wanted to know the condition of the car for the bank, before they repoed it.was always on the south, southeast and west side of chicago.every car i looked at was absolute junk even though they were only 1 to 2 yrs old,not a straight panel on the car,the oil was black as coal cause they never changed it.whats kind of funny was that after all the cars i looked at,hundreds or more i was not once stoodup for a inspection.all the owners thought they were going to get some money for the damage, which they werent.many were top of the line cars for there day.

Marty UsherBruce I could be wrong but I always thought they left San Antonio for a dinner in Houston at the Rice Hotel on Novemeber 21st then went to Fort Worth and stayed at the Hotel Texas (now a Hilton) before flying to Love Field.

They are running news stories here in San Antonio today about the parade you photographed the day before he was shot. That is sooo coool you took that photo.

BeWareGreat pictures and memories.
SimonsezMarty. Fifty years is too long for me to remember anything. But, you are probably right. I think he spoke at a place called the Joe B Freeman Auditorium in San Antonio. Does that sound right to you? Also if memory serves me...I was standing on the corner of Zasamora St and hwy 190. What I remember and what is the truth sometimes is a far stretch. lol. I wish I was in San Antonio today to listen to all the news from that day.
Marty UsherBruce US 90 in that area now looks like an interstate with limited access and runs that way from I-10 near downtown all the way out west to the 1604 outerbelt. Right at Zarzamora Street and 90 is where I took my SSR to get a windshield replaced. I never knew about the Kennedy parade there until today. So you are remembering things I never even knew about San Antonio!
