Yesterday the car ran great! Upon starting today the engine starter sounded as though it was grinding and the engine chugged My fear is that the timing belt may have slipped, or a valve is stuck Any input will be greatly appreciated After checking with a local shop a code P0601 appeared and it is not listed in the manuals CAT-A-TONIC I wouldn't get too focused on the belt. There's a lot of things in the belt system that would have to go wrong to jump a tooth. Going to have to give a better detailed explanation of symptoms to get opinions. padroo The book says P0601 Internal Controller Failure, PCM internal fault detected. This is out of my 1999 shop manual.
Try disconnecting the battery for a while and reset the PCM and see what happens.
http://www.obd-codes.com/p0601 Nmvruo1 Thanks I will try that and see what may happen, my manual did not even list the code Again Thanks
