To follow up on my speakers. I ordered Infinity Kappa 62.11I 150W 6.5-Inch 2-Way Kappa Series Coaxial Speakers. These are 2ohm. Since they are about 1/4" smaller they came with an adapter ring made of plastic. I couldn't figure out a good way to use the ring so I cut the center out of the old speakers and used the outside ring as an adapter which worked great. I didn't have to drill holes in the door panel. And they sound great. The old speakers were rotten and torn. So far the other Prowler speakers sound good so I'm not going to replace them. This message has been edited by BobEther on 03-26-2018 at 10:44 AM the dash speakers you want to be careful they don't touch the sides of the speaker well. place foam on bottom and around side. so it doesn't touch . I really wish I could have heard the system when it was new! the dash speakers you want to be careful they don't touch the sides of the speaker well. place foam on bottom and around side. so it doesn't touch . http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/010813.html Will 4ohm work? So the amp won't power up the 4 ohm speakers. I live in the country where it's almost always quiet and you can hear the birds chirp......One day I heard what sounded like a car coming down the road with a wheel bearing going out...The screeching was horrendous and I could hear it coming from a mile away! This message has been edited by bjprowler on 03-20-2018 at 04:28 PM Those damn whipper snappers! Ummm...me. I like my music loud sometimes. I wanna hear it, I wanna feel it. It's all part of my Prowler experience. I'm sure everyone's experience is different. This message has been edited by Dano on 03-20-2018 at 08:44 PM Yes. I am using them. Boston Acoustics in the dash and Polk Audio in the door and rear. Working great. I like my music loud sometimes. I wanna hear it, I wanna feel it. It's all part of my Prowler experience. I'm sure everyone's experience is different. Some people also enjoy sadomasochism (S&M) but the rest of us aren't forced to suffer along with them. It means the they sound like crap. And again, same fitting, nothing sticking out? They also fit the rear if you make some spacers to lift them up slightly as the coil is bigger. And again, same fitting, nothing sticking out? This is how my door speakers looked, maybe worse. See picture posted by Dfsc1. http://www.facebook.com/ProwlerCar/videos/1738478156209844/ Just make sure you cover the connections as not cause a short. If you look at thee 7.51 mark of the video this could be a problem. Plus the JBL are a bit smaller and are 2ohms This message has been edited by robin on 03-26-2018 at 12:36 PM BobEther I need to replace the dash speakers on my 99. Did a search and the post I found are all old. Has anyone found replacement speakers recently? May need door speakers too but the dash speakers are shot. What are the dimensions for speakers size and ratings? TucsonJer Hi Bob, when I had the dash speakers and door speakers replaced in my 99, I went to the Specialist and they did it for me. I’m sure if you gave them a call they have the speakers you need and would sell them to you if you want to do your own installation. Jer robin these are all 2ohm
Now the door needs a small fabrication on the inside of door panel to fit perfect. Will not notice when panel reinstalled.Weezy I replaced mine with Focals, but can't recall which model. They are tiny little speakers and easy to replace Dano I installed Infinity REF3022CFX 3.5in speakers in the dash and in the rear box. Chances are if the front are shot, so are all of the others. When I replaced all of mine, including the sub, it made all the difference - the sound system just came alive. Originally I was so disappointed that Chrysler could not have put a better sound system in the Prowler...but apparently they did, as almost all of my speakers were missing foam. BobEther quote:

Due to the laws of electricity, the amp won't deliver as much power to those 4 ohm speakers as it would to 2 ohm speakers. V-Rod I fitted JBL GX302's, they are 2 ohm, fit straight in the dash and sound great: Tomcal
Need to remove "s" for link to work on this site.

As the car approached and passed by, I realized that it was a convertible with the top down and today's version of that heavy metal "Rock-N-Roll" crap blasting....alprowl quote:

Just curious......but when you say your dash speakers are "shot", what does that mean?CAT-A-TONIC Same question. You mean because their damaged or for some reason YOU don't like the way they sound. Because mine still sound great. When the door speakers go south it's usually because the foam rings deteriorate. BUT....you can repair those as good as new. Dfsc1 You know they are "shot" when you crank up the volume and you hear "crackling" sounds or just bad sound. The speaker cones are made from paper which deteriorates from old age and separates from the speaker body similar to the picture CatchMeNow Any wiring upgrades or same connections? quote:

But add some thin foam inside the speaker hole so nothing touches the connectors
The backs need a little alteration to fit into the speaker hole.
All wiring is same just the little slip over clips. Male... Female connectors
7.51 markCAT-A-TONIC As bad as they look, keep in mind that they can be fixed and will sound as good as new. You can get new foam rings in a kit and with a little time at the work bench and you'll have them good as new and sounding as original. You can check out this site:simplyspeakers.com. They have replacement foam rings for just about any size and brand. Also check out their ring replacement tutorial and you will see the fix.
