This message has been edited by stevedymo on 02-01-2018 at 04:12 PM I read the original announcement ( Aug 18, 2017) of possible closure, the local government's phoney intention to find a way to keep it open (Blah, Blah, Blah) ........... When was the last time you heard of greedy POS town politicians resisting the temptation of grabbing 4.3 million dollars ???? All the town had to do was wait for both original owners to die, which happened in April 2017 ..... and close the museum to get the money. This message has been edited by greatkat on 02-02-2018 at 11:27 AM This article even states that the Gilmour Museum is willing to build a facility to permanently house the complete collection. It is notable that the town is firmly against donating the cars to Gilmour, and is instead insisting that the cars be sold at auction so that the town can get their hands on the money. The moral to this story is NEVER, EVER TRUST POLITICIANS TO DO THE RIGHT THING !!!!! This message has been edited by greatkat on 02-06-2018 at 12:38 PM RPL I'm sorry that we didn't make this event. It was just announced that the Hudson Museum in Shipsuwana that was part of this event has decided to close and liquidate their cars. Another museum bites the dust. Sad. greatkat Hi Bob,
You're right .. that's a real shame.
It was great to tour the museum on the Shipsuwana Prowler tour and see a concentration of Hudsons in one place.
I guess that liquidation means that they will now be disseminated to different locations.
Thanks for the heads up.
Cheers,
Terrypadroo My wife and I drove over there last summer in the Prowler and got to see the museum. Somehow we missed it when we were there for the event. stevedymo Bob, Jeff Wallis told us about the Museum closing last August with a link to Hemmings story.
http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum18/HTML/015066.html jwallis Steve that was so long ago that I forgot I had posted that. Must be getting old like Ed. greatkat Oh let's not kid ourselves about the town's real motive to close the museum that they currently own.
and then read on to discover the estimate of 4.3 MILLION DOLLARS if the museum cars were to be sold at auction !!!! jwallis More on Shipshewana greatkat After reading the above "More on Shipshewana", it just confirms my suggestion that the POS town politicians are solely focused on the money. CJ The Gilmore Museum is the perfect place for the collection!!
