WildCatI want to start by saying Im the unofficial official Presedent of sales for the Tom Mills 2 piece deck lid (Tom gave me this title at the 20th event......LOL)

haven't said anything about him doing these not to step on toes. this thread is just to show interest in the event he is able to get issues dealt with and a price on uninstalled parts for you to install or have installed on your car.

Tom has been on the fence about producing these deck lids due to issues beyond his control, one getting the parts made and the installation of said parts.

These decklids will not be an easy DIY project, but should be able to be done by a skilled body guy or DIY that can follow instructions to the letter.

The fiberglass parts will be unpainted and will need to be painted to match your car.

At the 20th anniversary event there were several people that ask when they would be available. I jokingly told Tom I was going to make a flyer that stated that we were taking deposit on the deck lid not knowing when they would be produced or how much they would cost........this is what I told people when I said I was getting a prowler

Tom thinks he has another glass company lined up to produce the 2 piece deck lid, then he has to get all the brackets made to make a complete kit.

Tom was planning on building a Hemi Cat and bought his black car to do the conversion on. He has decided not to build the car and the black car is for sale. There are currently 3 2 piece decklids built plus his prototype. His Woodward has the 1st out of the mold 2 piece, the 2nd one which was on his Black car is going on Steve Clarks HIGHBOY and the 3rd is on my car (I wanted the 3rd since my light kit on the front is numbered 003)

So if Tom decides to build the 2 piece deck lid and would need to build several to make it cost effective a list of buyers might help make that decision.

1. would you be interested in one?

2. would you be able to install or hire someone to install this for you? Painting of glass parts & some holes must be drilled in tub with a fixture designed to locate them and wiring for actuators

3. Would you be willing to put a deposit on one?

Tom doesn't know Im making this post, (till he reads this.....LOL) just trying to help out other Prowler owners to get a decklid that should have been on the car from the factory

Just like all of the great products he has made for the Prowler this one looks like a factory piece, the comment about "well it has a seam" well BFD, all cars have seams for the trunk lid, who cares it was placed so it blends in with the rest of the car. I washed my car and the trunk stayed dry and when Tom was having to flip up his back glass on the black cat 5 times one morning before leaving the hotel he was saying "That is why I built it" even with a soft top it makes it so much easier to get into the trunk and with a hardtop the BEST way to get in there without having to remove the top.

let's show Tom the interest

Thank You

phil2237Tom builds high quality parts, That trunk deck is a fantastic idea. I would be interested in prices before I could make a commitment. This is what Chrysler should have done from the beginning, along with several other items like Toms window regulators

As with all of Toms products he prices them reasonable

I do not want to put a number out there, that is up to Tom, what he has been kicking around would be in the very reasonable for the product.

prowlrmanLarry,

I have to agree with Phil. At least an estimated cost range could be provided. I very much would like one of these as I also have a hard top and basically quit using my trunk long ago due to the hassle. I believe the concept is awesome and have been watching for all this time since his initial announcement about production and COST.

However, before stating I'd be a "confirmed" buyer, and even more importantly paying a deposit, I'd like to know what this project will ultimately cost me. As you know after the cost of the part, then there is installation and paint work, of which ALL costs are responsibility of the buyer. Those total costs come into serious consideration before commitment as I for one would then weigh the cost versus the benefit for the amount of time I really use the trunk (which as I stated earlier has been years of no use). Since you are so close to Tom asking him for at least a "ball park" estimate would probably be very helpful to your quest to help him decide if there is enough interest. And then that let's people like me decide if I could make the commitment. JMO btw...I commend you for taking on this role to make such a great concept a reality!!

carnutdrwould be interested and was a few years ago but never materialized.
Do need some idea of possible price.

Couldn't agree with your statement and yes a price needs to be set before deposits taken. My statement was kind of tongue in cheek and was joking with Tom when I made it at the car show.

The main reason for this thread is to show that several could be sold.

Right now he is checking with a new supplier of the glass parts. The guy is in business and makes reproduction bodies so Tom is going to try and get him to make the decklids. This also will effect the price. Yes Tom has given me what he would LIKE for it to come in at, and I think it is reasonable.

Many varibles at this point.

I know of maybe 4 that were at the show that would like one. If there was interest for at least 10 would think that would help the project along.

What would you expect the kit price to be?
