Hope you weren't pulling your trailer....you could have tread separation. Let me tell you all about that LOL. By the way I did make it back to FL without any problems. Glad you escaped the long arm of the Illinois law! Very true, that's why I own three!!! A Saturday afternoon going to the local hang out, interstate down to 2 lane each direction with no shoulder. I guy that I had seen at cruise in but really didn't know was broke down about 1/2 mile from exit. He had a sunbeam tiger, so I stopped to see if I could help and get him off the interstate. Said it just quit like out of fuel. Had hitch in car but no trailer, ask people working the construction site if I could borrow a chain which they gave me a 3/8" log chain and I pulled him off the interstate. About 1/2 way up ramp a cop comes up behind us and turns his lights on. This would have been when my car was fairly new so not many people had seen a prowler, let alone pulling a tiger off the road. I had to get to the top to give room for people to get by Ed and me. Cop wanted to know what I was doing and did I know this guy. Told him I was helping to get him to safety and no I really didn't know him but seen him at cruise in and stopped to help. Got the chain back to crew, cop wasn't happy but I really think he wanted to look at both cars as he had to try and get past all the back up just to get to us. Glad all went well for you, good seeing you again! Have a safe trip home. ------------------ I was so happy your story ended up on a positive note. Sounds like he was a good guy, congrats on your results! Mike I have gotten so I don't like diving at night in any car. My night vision isn't what it used to be. I see I need to proof read my posts better. LolTucsonJer We drove over to Burlington Iowa tonight to see a Brantley Gilbert concert for Burlington Steamboat Days. The concert was great. After getting out of the parking lot we drove back over the bridge into Illinois. As we came off the bridge and down around the curve I saw 2 SUV's parked in the median. I told Mary Anne "That looked like a couple of cops", since we were in the middle of about a half a dozen cars I wasn't real concerned about it. About 30 seconds later I had a patrol car right on my butt with all his pretty lights on. I thought "he's surely not after me" but apparently I was the one he wanted to talk to. I pulled over and got my license & insurance card all ready to go. When he came up to my door he ask me if I knew why he stopped me to which I replied that I didn't have a clue. He proceeded to tell me that I was going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. I told him that I was a little surprised that he was able to to determine that with all the cars that were around me. He took my license & insurance card and went back to his car. After a few minutes he came back up and said here's your cards back and I'm not going to give you ticket. He told me that they were mainly looking for drivers who were impaired coming from the concert but he had seen me earlier when I was on my way to the concert and thought the Prowler was pretty cool. He told me mine was the first Prowler he had ever pulled over. I laughed when he told me he wasn't sure he was going to be able to catch me. I told him about the Anniversary event we had just came from in Michigan and how we were in Illinois visiting friends. For good measure I showed him my "support the blue" wristband and he was really impressed. We shook hands and I thanked him for giving me a break. I gave him one of my cards so he could show his buddies that he had pulled over a Prowler and told him to be safe and got back on the road. Mary Anne and I had a little chuckle after we left especially since that makes the third time in a row that I've been pulled over and haven't gotten a ticket. I hope my luck continues because I've got a lot more miles to go before this Prowler adventure is over. Jer Greg and Veta Jer, you speed demon! koolkty Glad to hear no ticket. Our cars are definitely cop magnets. On our way to the casino I was trying to keep up with the group and got over 55 in a 35 zone. Luckily no cops spotted me. padroo Jer, glad Barney Fife let you go, did you get a picture taken with him? Those speed zones in those small towns are the ones I have to look out for. Sounds like you are living large.
Only had one Prowler pass me leaving Michigan and it was red. Lol Say hi to Mary Ann for us, drive safe.StingRay That's quite ironic he let you off .... give the state of our fiscal budget .... figured the cronies in the legislature have directed cops to go after any and all to increase revenue! Be careful on the rest of your trip. Richnew41 You have good luck with you Jer.... The officer probably wanted to also get a closer look at your Kat... Sounds like you are having a blast... Well done!!! WildCat Have only been stopped once in my prowler
Larry & Sue MayesLow On Cash TucsonJer TucsonJer Went to Burlington IA. again last night to see the band Lo Cash ( not to be confused with low on cash). It was a beautiful night and the band was excellent. This time when we went back over the bridge to Illinois I made sure I was only going 55 mph. Only thing different this time was NO cops but we did see one deer standing in he ditch. Hopefully no more night driving the rest of the trip. Too risky with all the deer. Another couple weeks and we will be home. Thanks for all the post. Jer PS. Joe what the heck is a scofflaw? Lol padroo I don't like night driving with the Prowler. If there is something on the road like one of those ols semi tires or a muffler you can't Strattera it. It's bad enough in the daytime in traffic.
Have a safe trip on your way home Jer.BeWare quote:
