ed monahan I went to fire up the 97 and the battery was low so I charged it. It still wouldn't start so I used a jumper box to get it going. The lights were flickering, I was hearing a clicking sound and the CHECK GAGE came on.
It turned out to be a bad battery.
I thought it was a bad ground, at first. I checked the neg. cable to frame connection and it was good.
I took the DURACELL battery back to SAM's without a receipt and had my new battery within 15 minutes, no charge.
If the battery is low, you can have all of those symptoms.
I replaced the neg. cable with a generic one since the clamp at the battery looked to be deteriorating. The frame connection was still perfect after 20 years.
quincy Thanks for the tip(s).....Glad it was nothing serious!! ed monahan Thanks Lou. I was happy it wasn't a computer problem. Landscape Doctor Started my mistress today and got the check gage light. Will try new battery, thanks Ed. garysss I assume you checked your gauges? garysss I assume you checked your gauges and battery connections? Landscape Doctor All the gages seem to be working but the amp gage is reading about 10ish. It usually was reading 13 give or take. So I think it is a bad battery. All connections checked out ok. Will pick one up this week and report back.
