robinThis Black tie the Odometer is in Kilometers and I would like to change it to Miles do You think it will work by just changing the speedometer to a US ?

My thinking was would have to change the circuit board.

Anyone ?
robin

robinDid a search and Tony G replied

Hi Greg - All you need to do is change the speedo head. No code needs to be reset - simply plug it in. ( No tech required ). Canadian cars also come with a "Daytime running light" module. This can also be removed if desired. I'd suggest to keep the 5mph Canadian bumpers as the US bumpers are rated at 2.5mph

Then catfish said take to a dealer and they switch it as its run by the TCM?
Opinions please.

RPLDo you want to swap at miles speedo for a kilometer one?

Are you planning on defecting? lol

I found the same info as you, the TCM would need programming to make the odometer right.

jimsuttonSo it looks like it is just a plug and run and will work for Kilometers or miles on the odometer . so that Being I can go from Kilometers to miles plug/run with no programing Now I assume I need to find a US speedometer the replacement .

No need to change anything, Jim. You will be fine running at 70 KPH on the interstate up to Michigan in June.

I'll wave when I pass you....LOL.

jimsutton Greg - When you pass me ? What are You talking about I might be in the Orange jet and Rays Red Fire ball right behind me . Looks like about only a 3 hr. drive from Ocala ...
alprowlState/country laws vary, but changing a speedometer will probably cause the vehicle history to show TMU (true mileage unknown) and a 'branded' title, affecting value when sold.
Even a 'corrected' odometer will not correct the problem
robinPart number 5010273AC

Still unclear....if Jim were to buy a speedo and just plug it in .
Would the TCM display the correct mileage?
Would the odometer start at 0?

robinCaution if you open link you will be offended by obscene prices and price gouging...

Tony GoertzJust change the Speedo in the dash. NO programming needed!
NO PCM changes. Odometer automatically changes to reflect Miles or Kilometers. Speedo units have a chip to convert signal from PCM. Different chips in Metric vs US speedo units.

1buddycMileage is stored in the Prowler's BCM, not the Instrument. Swapping Speedometers wont change the vehicle's mileage history.

Odometer is the problem....As a car dealer, it has been a problem... if history shows oil change at 8000(K), then next oil change is at 6000(M)... car fax will usually report it as odometer rollback problem...many states will not convert miles to Kilos and vice versa

jimsuttonI had a 1984 Corvette and You switch from mph to Kilometers and back to mph . I am not worried about a Car fax there are a lot of cars messed up and fixed that don't show up on a Car fax . . For the Most of them don't tell the real story . The problem is this Prowler odometer is very blurry and hard to read It is in Kilometers I would like to change it to MPR . Once I find more or if it can be done with out being a real problem I HOPE TO DO IT .. I have redone the problems with the car and the odometer seams to be the only thing left that I know of ? Thanks to every on for there input ..
