I see alot of talk about Paxton Superchargers. Forget that,there's no room anyway. Cram this under the rear of your Prowler and watch everyone back off. The drawback is a 2 sec delay in boost because it's in the rear of the car,but incrediable boost when it finally hooks up. I've seen a few on Corvettes at car shows. Anyone want to be the first Prowler with twin turbos?

garysssIt it was possible I think it would have happen already. Don't think there is enough room back there.

Marty UsherIDA Automotive installed twin turbos (tradiional front mounted) in a couple of Prowlers about a decade ago. Heat was an issue bu the cars cars ran fast!! They also installed a Whipple SC in one of the Prowlers.

I remmber someone looking at STS (rear mounted) turbos for a Prowler but don't recall anyone posting they had actually install a system.

garysssThanks for the links, but I didn't see any on the rear of the car. I knew there were some twin turbo's, but I knew of none on the rear like you posted.
treybSomeone did look into these recently as well as me a while back. Turbos are good, IDAs did work but overheating happened. I dont think they perfected the intercooler which is critical for a turbo with exhaust and back pressure.

The STS probably can fit the challenge you will run into is electronics. With the added boost it will throw the computer for a spin. For many of the other aftermarket applications and cars that are more common, people create custom maps codes and engine programming. If you can crack the nut you maybe on to something big.

You can always put things in. Its getting them all to work safety and reliably which is key. Also if you manage to get through all of the above safely watch that rear end with that boost also. Your going to need a trans upgrade if you plan on throwing alot more power at our fun 42le! It's limited!! take it from us other go fast prowlers!! I Still think the 5.0 or a 4.2 stroker is probably the best and most reliable. But nothing is easy or cheap for a prowler! Keep us posted

xtreme prowlerTrey is correct... I spoke to STS and the install is not expensive or difficult.... They cannot tune the car and you would have to find someone to do the tuning... I called the best tuner in Atlantic Canada and he won't touch it... I also called Whipple and Procharger and they say they have nothing for the 3.5

treybWhen I was doing my research Westech had a safe 4.2 stroker that many people have done. Including Marty U, Laddy and they even did a few of Mikes worlds fastest. It may not be as strong as the 5.0 option but it seemed pretty safe and they are a working shop if you looking for more with reliability.

I called them a few times, sounded like good bunch and the 4.2 pretty reliable all motor pretty much a sleeper. When I did the cost to power impact ratio didn't mix for me at the time but if you want a comfortable safe power increase, swap in and out maybe worth a call. They mentioned that the did a good number over years for folks.

No matter how you spin it there is nothing simple, easy or cheap about going fast in a prowler. Enjoy it for all its worth, in its beauty, reliability and being the king of looks. With more and more HP comes more and more responsibility, costs and shop time!
