This message has been edited by Tom Mills on 09-24-2012 at 11:34 AM A lot of guys are going to VOI in Charlotte soon, I'm sure I can get someone near you. I can't seem to send PM's here... Just sent you an email... I was so excited I didn't even see it in your sig! LOL This message has been edited by Kala on 09-24-2012 at 11:14 AM The OEM window regulators will eventually fail because they were/are crap. Will that regulator make the adjustment for the Vert's? On a vert, the glass comes up to a certain point when the door closes... then makes an adjustment and snugs up to the weather stripping... The training method on the Viper Verts is by holding the window down button for like 5 seconds... Then roll up the window holding the button to the up position for a couple of seconds after the glass has hit the window stripping... I don't remember if my Prowler did that... Maybe it did... Tom Mills The Vipers are having the same problems with their window regulators as the Prowlers. They have asked me to see if I can do a Viper regulator. I have a prototype up and running and I will be looking for a Viper in my area to do an install. If you know of anyone let me know.
TomKala TOM! Viper Nation is going to love you!!!! Kala I see you posted over at the Viper Club... If you still need help getting a car, let me know... New Kat owner, what are the problems with the window regulators?Tom Mills I have the Viper prototype regulator working on Utube if anyone would like to see it. http://youtu.be/0Mupk_B2s98 Kala Looks good Tom... Tom Mills I think it will. That is one reason that I need to install it in a Viper before I go any farther. I don't see any reason that it won't work as it did with the factory regulator. Both motors are two contact motors. I believe the window drop is built into the body control module. Tom Mills Update on the Viper regulator project.
After three weeks of work, investment and research I am sorry to say that the regulator project doesn’t look like it is going to work. The body control module is much more involved with the regulator motor that I originally thought it might be. The motor has a built in “Hall signal”. This is the signal that the body module uses to tell the motor what to do. Window drop, express down and etc. It has a magnet on the armature and a sensor in the wiring pigtail that keeps track of the revolutions of the armature and relays this information to the control module. After a lot of fabricating and trial and error I have the window going up and down just fine but unless some electrical engineer can come up with a work around for the Hall signal I guess we are “dead in the water”
Very glad the Prowler does not use the computer to control the windows
Tom idive I work with an electrical engineer Mopar enthusiast. I'll mention this to him and see if he has an interest in assisting you. If so I'll put you two in touch. Kala I could also check with a Viper engineer... See if he can point in the right direction...
