jptI have been told that it is possible to purchase a driver seat lowering kit that add around 3" of leg room. I am not only a senior citizen but also 6'4" tall. Any gain would greatly help me be more confortable. Does anyone have made this modification or have information about the kit?
Thanks. jpt
ed monahanThere is no "lowering kit" that I am aware of. Someone else will correct me if I am wrong.
The seat is adjustable and can be a little tricky getting it to the lower setting. There are three handles to adjust and if you are sitting on the seat it is a little easier to manuever. Maybe have your wife sit in the seat and attempt to lower it since she will have more room to manuever.
BeWareI am not aware of a seat lowering kit either. The seat frame base is bolted directly to the floor. The drivers seat is taller because of the raising lowering mechanism. I am short so I have never tried adjusting it to see if it will go down as low as the passenger seat. If it doesn't maybe you could locate a passenger seat frame and install it on the drivers side or swap the seats around. Otherwise I would think you would have to modify the seat frame base someway. I don't even know if that is possible.
BeWareDisregard my post about the passenger seat, it won't work on the drivers side. I found this thread from 2004.

catfishno such thing, the other kit to go up does not add legroom.maybe you dont have the seat all the way back.im 6 3 and dont have any problems.maybe your drivers seat is not adjusted as low as it will go.

jjprowlerThey have one at the prowlerstore 75 bucks plus shipping. Not a big fan of them
bjprowlerHave you tried letting the air out of the tires?
idiveOR you could just do what those tall Aussies do. Move the steering wheel to the other side of the car.

I did not know that this lowering kit existed. Learn something new every day. If it were me, after viewing the installation intructions I would buy another seat assembly to modify. I wonder what those red brackets are made of. Seems like it would be silly to make them out of metal and then paint them red.

WildCatI had never heard of seat lowering kit, UNTIL I was talking to a new Indy owner. He is 6'6" and said he ordered a lowering kit. My guess it removes the seat adjuster and puts the seat right on the floor

Probably not a bad idea for those height advantaged people

jptI found a driver seat lowering kit that advertizes a gain of 3". The cost is $75.
I don't know if it is the real thing or not.

jptSorry for the mistake, I didn't mean to post the same answer that BeWare gave. Thanks for the information
hookershot car accessories site also has seat lowering kit for prowler.
catfishits the same one the prowler store has.there is only one way to lower the seat, remove the seat adjuster which is what the 75.00 kit does.then you have no adjustment at all.the 2 to 3 inches your taking out has to come from somewhere.jpt you never said if your seat was adjusted all the way down, most owners, dont know how to do it.

skuterYes, the added three inches is nice for us tall people. My knees used to hit the dash board until I removed the seat adjuster. I removed my seat adjuster a few years ago. A couple of hours of your time, six pieces of steel or aluminum (1" x 3" x 3/8" thick)(drill two 5/16" holes, 2 1/8" apart) and a few new 5/16" bolts, nuts & washers. It,s not that hard. Everything can be put back to normal if do not like it, just reinstall the seat adjuster. Enjoy the extra leg room!
