Oh, the reason for the removal, there has been a binding in the linkage for the past 9 yrs of ownership & I've had enough. "It's amazing what the simple mind can do under stress and I oughta know!" BTW: Do you have any of the silver wheel centers left? I managed to do it by putting a prop rod in the front center of the hood while unbolting the hinge and working the motor and linkage out.. Ed W. OK, I've tried the search function but to no avail. What's the trick to removing the wiper motor mechanism? The cowl grill is off (of course), I removed the three machine screws holding both ends where the pedestals mount amd the motor itslef. I disconnected the plug & the ground strap. It's loose but will NOT come out. FWIW: the car is a '97.
Please advise.Ed W. I figured it out. It's almost a two person job.
Unbolt the hood from the left hinge having someone hold it in place. Place towels all around the rear most point of the hood JUST IN CASE.
The wiper mechanism WILL slid out to the drivers side in it's entirity.
The tube that goes from one stantion to the other was rubbing on the cowl at the base of the windshield ever so slightly, but would resonate throughout the cabin when the wipers were activated. Just a small tap of the rubber mallet where it chafed was all it took. The noise that was there is NO MORE.beachcat I saw one on ebay today if you need a new one. TLRandall Great work Ed!!!
