padrooI came home from work yesterday and it was finally 70 degrees outside and I told my wife "lets go", she said where? I said we are taking the Prowler out for its first spin. I told her the day before to plug in that battery charger and guess what, she didn't and the battery was dead. I put the charger on it and got it running and away we went! Got down the road 300 ft. and the low tire warning buzzer came on so I turned around and went back and put some air in the tires. Then we took off again with no interruptions. The first thing I remember is the steering was so slow. I expected it to be more responsive like a sports car I guess.
We stayed in the area and enjoyed the evening and we were excited and not disappointed at all. I was expecting a harsher ride but found it to be acceptable. I noticed the younger kids paid more attention to it than the adults making all kind of comments, all positive. I am off today and it is warm and sunny so we will be out again today hopefully without all the drama leaving the house this time!
diamondwymondI dont know how many miles on yours, but at around twenty thousand my steering shed some of the stiffness and loosened up a bit.
JeraneWMy kat was brand new when I first drove it and the steering was so quick I was afraid to take my eyes off the road for even a fraction of a second. Get a battery tender so you won't have to recharge the battery. My Kat is a 2001 with the original battery; the secret is keeping it charged. Glad you got out on the road. It was 90 degrees here in South Carolina yesterday.
ed monahanYou will find that young kids and old folks are the ones who like it the most. I think the older folks think back to the 30s and 40s and hot rods, recalling their youth.
fibertopSounds like you had a blast Dale. It's getting warm enough here but now we're getting rain. I hope to get out this week and mod the exhaust.
attyedhallit was nice here today and i am glad to hear you finally got to drive it. the car shows at the harley dealer in valpo should start up on friday evenings pretty soon. hope to see you there.
padrooI have a battery tender mounted to the Prowler but funny thing, they don't work when they are not plugged in. My wife unplugs everything, my cordless drills are always dead too. I'd rather have a dead battery than to loose her, she is the one who will keep the Kat clean! I don't know how old the battery is, it looks new but the car only has 6,800 miles on it. My older cars without computers have a switch right on the battery to keep them from drawing power but that is not a good idea for computerized cars. Our weather is turning cold again with rain moving in, it is a treat to get a day like this in NW Indian (80 plus degrees) before June. I learned one more thing, there are no smooth roads in Indiana.

attyedhall, I am looking forward to meeting you in Valpo. I work at Arcelor Mittal Burns Harbor Plant and I am a swing shift worker so I won't make it all the time. I know they have another gathering in Hobart across from JD's restaurant on Wednesday nights.

ed monahanYour battery would say Mopar on it if it is original. Most of the original batteries lasted quite awhile. Eight or ten years is not unheard of.
padrooEd, I am sure it has been replaced at least one, it is a Walmart battery. I don't know anything about the history of the car so I can only guess. All I know is a bad battery can ruin a days fun!
LEGOKATGlad you got out on the road. The weather is starting to be warm here in CO as well. I can't wait to get mine back and drive the heck out of it!
