------------------ I am no expert but the manufacturers are in it to make money. When they are making parts they likely draw from experience as what quantities they will need to make for a specific model year or production run. I would also guess that they allow for a percentage above that for defective parts and crash related replacements. Then they may continue to make some parts based on normal wear and maintenance related items such as suspension, drive line and engine parts. If after a while the manufacturer sees that they are not selling replacement parts at the expected rate, they may elect not to make any additional "runs" of parts, after all it does cost money to warehouse and inventory these parts. Some of these parts actually have a shelf life like radiator hoses and seals. They could lose quite a bit if these items "expire" sitting on the shelf. An example of this would be tires. Would you be willing to buy a new set of ten year old tires for any of your cars, I know I would not. Unfortunately for us, many people are not driving their Prowlers like they would their other vehicles. This results in a lower demand for parts (Like tires and Radiator hoses),the manufacturer may then think twice about the economics of making any more of these parts when supplies dwindle. In short....the more money the manufacturer can make on an item, the more likely they will produce it provided the demand is enough. It is my opinion that those of us that bought these cars as an investment and have not driven them, have been partially responsible for the lack of maintenance items available for these cars now. My suggestion would be to get out and drive these cars, wear them out, enjoy them as much as you can then buy replacement parts. This may generate enough of a demand for necessary parts and eventually result in a continuing supply for years to come. That is my fifty cents worth, I hope it in some small way helps answer your question. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 07-26-2009 at 06:23 PM I don't think 500 would do it, maybe 5,000 unfortunately. Remember they are interested in Money first and customer service is closer to last on the list in my opinion. The other thing is that I would guess that when the parts guy says the item is not available, they do not go any further and record it as a lost sale. Without that step the bean counters do not see what they did not earn. It stinks huh. By the way, I am an A.S.E. Certified Parts Specialist so I actually have half of a clue sometimes but not always. I believe the side mirrors were from a minivan also? After the Prowler was discontinued, my contact at Mopar assured me that certain parts would continue to be produced as long as there was a demand for them. Otherwise, it's a business decision that a company makes whether or not is is financially feasible. viper&prowler soul Is the Mopar company continues to manufacture spare parts for prowler ? Or dependent only on the stock to have made before??
thankscatfish some parts, they still make.some they dont.the older they get the more will be discontinued. viper&prowler soul quote:

LOL (Then when they come in we can say we already had to make another fix for it... at least we'll them have stock for when they ARE needed! uhhh, I know they degrade... I just used that as an example of what we can do to get some stockpiles of stuff.) alrtg quote:

What are the common spare parts with other cars?
I will start
Engine Like engine 300m
It will be the subject of reference for the staff
catfish youre on your own. alrtg Here is a second one for your list, the trim around the inside door handles are rumored to be from the Viper but the driver side on the Viper fits the Passenger side of the Prowler (and vise versa)
Maybe someone out there can identify an interchange for the yellow button used for the deck lid release, it is apparently not Prowler only.

idive Would that be a 1925 300m? A 1990 Viper? Year models just might make a difference in many cases so listing what year model you are talking about would certainly help. Steering wheel was rumored to have been off the minivan. Would that be a 1942 minivan? Is that a Plymouth Voyager or a GRAND Voyager? OR is it a Dodge Caravan? GRAND Caravan? Town and Country? It may make a difference. catfish the dr handle bezels are from a 95 dodge ram pickup.the h/lite are from a 49 plymouth.the t/lites are from a 48dodge.airbags from a 39 desoto. viper&prowler soul the A/C modul like dodge stratus 1999

thanksTLRandall I think it's a good idea to maybe catalog the interchangeable parts, but it will be a lot of work to get it together. Sooner or later we are all going to need that information, as our cars are getting older, and things are failing on a more regular basis. We should also keep a list of where aftermarket parts are available. Maybe there should be a separate topic for the list.
I see that it would be a long time until Year One or someone like that takes over making parts for us, and I just don't have the money right now to buy the Prowler name and rights from Chrysler to do it on my own!!!
