American Custom Trailers in Cincinnati, Ohio makes a Corvette & Mustang Replica Trailer (Initially for Motorcycle owners). Now, they have discovered Car Club guys & gals like them too. They retail for $3,495. One of my Vette buddies had sent me a note with a pic of the Vette trailer. So, I sent an email to the contact, than spoke with Tom Young of American Custom Trailers asking if they made a Prowler Replica trailer and he said they did not. However, they had considered it and would consider making one if there was enough interest. In my previous note, http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/016757.html I posted a link to their site www.americancustomtrailers.com. And from the responses, I made arrangements to have a trailer at Woodward.

Tom Young said if would make a good Winter Project and could available in 1st Quarter 2008. He said the price would be the same as the Vette & Mustang ($3,495). And, we would need 10 people to sign up paying $1,000 each upfront to cover the development. I asked if he had a loaner trailer. He said yes and I than called Ed Monahan to see if he would trailer it to Woodward for everyone to see. Thanks to Ed for towing and getting the wire harness converted from MC to Car…

So, two questions:
1) Do we have enough interest in the Prowler community and Ten (10) owners willing to put $1,000 up front for developing the trailer?
2) American Custom Trailers willing to develop & build the Prowler Replica Trailer?

ed monahanThe trailer was very easy to tow, of course. It was tough to back up since the tongue is short and the trailer is low, but I did back it into my driveway twice.
The one I took to Detroit had a motorcycle tongue, which rotates. That is so it does not tend to flip the motorcycle in a sharp curve. The ones made for a car would not have that feature. The one I towed had a 5 wire 6 hole hook up. If they know it is for an automobile they will wire them with 4 wires.
There was way more room inside the trailer than I imagined when I first saw it.
I suggested that they incorporate the trailer wheel into the rear wheel of the Prowler and possibly hinge the top so it can be accessed from both the front and the rear.
It was a nice trailer.
I explained that a lot of folks will want to see a prototype before they commit but we need 10 daring souls to commit probably. I think it will be a huge hit after they produce them.
I have nothing to do with this project, other than pull the trailer up to Woodward and I will be willing to take my car and trailer down there for them to get some ideas.

i think ed has a great idea here
would atleast like to see a drawing before i put down any money
MDProwlerIf you look at the Mustang and consider how low it would be if it were to run on the back wheel I'm not sure that would work. It would also increase the tongue weight with the axle that far back. I think it looks neat just the way it is. Most people would think you are towing a go-kart.
1buddycNot for me...
