First I want to thank Rich and Linda Ware and Zack and Kelly for all the effort and planning it took to make this event a success. Next, I want to thank David Nazem and Ron Behr (01Prowler) for providing us with the INCREDIBLE BBQ on Thursday night! As some may know my alternator failed on the Sunday cruise and Gary jumped in with his GPS and lead us back to the hotel using the shortest distance possible. The rest of the above group followed us back to the hotel to provide support as needed. When my battery voltage dropped to about 8 volts and the car went into limp mode, Mike generously allowed me to switch batteries with him and we were able to get the car back to the hotel. Everyone jumped in to help switch the battery and I think we had it done in two minutes. I could not get a new alternator before Tuesday afternoon at the earliest and probably would have been Wednesday or Thursday. Two people offered the use of their trailers to bring my sick kat home. Because of me also having the prowler trailer only one worked out. So Finally the biggest THANK YOU of all goes out to Tom (Snoman) who generously kicked his car off his trailer and delivered my car to my door this afternoon, and let me drive his Kat home. Hope I didn't scare you to much Tom!!!. I can't express my appreciation enough to all who helped. Thanks again, What a wonderful group of people to offer anything necessary to help with my problems. It was nice to hang with old friends and meet some new ones that I hope I can call friends. Looking forward to Woodward. This message has been edited by kat hunter on 06-29-2007 at 11:27 AM Of coarse as soon as they removed the old one they saw the welds and were concerned chrysler would not reimburse them for the parts and labor costs under the extended warranty since the part had been modified. I made it abundantly clear that I had no interest in paying for it out of my pocket and laid out the whole case of why the weld attempt was made. They spent a good deal of time on the phone with their regional rep, who finally pre-approved the warranty claim so the dealership knew they were getting paid. They had me sign the $0 service slip and I was on my way. So the good news is the prowler is fixed and I'm only out the $30 welding fee. The bad news is that all four tack welds that should have joined the two parts of the clutch on the alternator together to allow the alternator to charge missed or the car could have been driven home. Now it's time to call one of our suppliers and get another alternator for a spare. Mike For the help getting my new Hardtop home. At least the problem is resolved. At least the problem is resolved. I should have taken the alternator off to have it welded, would have been able to see better. Also did not realize that there is a plastic cap on the inner part of the clutch, not being able to see down there very well hid the welds not being where they needed to be. As you say, the problem is resolved, and without major damage to my pocketbook so I'm happy with the outcome and thankful for all who pitched in to help. ------------------ This message has been edited by meancat on 06-29-2007 at 05:33 PM I'm definitely going to Woodward. Meancat & RonMDProwler You mean that the weld job was not done right and that's why it still did not work? Thhat sucks! I thought those welds were tiny but didn't consider that they were not holding. I don't think I saw it running after the welds. kat hunter quote:
