scuba steveWell after a year and a half, my dad finally bought a Prowler and now we have to get it. Anyone know any good transporters that would take it from Lexington KY to Peachtree city, Georgia. My dad is wanting it in an inclosed trailer and not one of these comercial trucks you see on the interstate. I assume also that if they were local to the southeast that it would be a cost benefit.
KATBIRDDRIVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!
dbudnerI agree, just go pick it up and drive it back. It's about 6 hours from here (near Cartersville). Buy a bra for it and you should be fine. Maybe you could just rent an enclosed trailer and pull it back. My guess is an airtran ticket can't be too much one way. Otherwise I bet you are talking a grand to get it here at least.

PMcatCongrats on the new Prowler! I am copying an earlier post (link below for the full thread) regarding shipping our Prowler from Detroit to Boston (700 miles for $900). Your 400 mile shipping distance should cost a good bit less. Fedex Custom Critical 800.325.4267.

I second recommendation for Fedex (formerly Passport Auto Transport). I had our Prowler shipped from Detroit to Boston using Fedex. The good news is that they were cost competitive ($900 for 700 miles in an enclosed transporter) and that the Prowler arrived in perfect condition. The driver was very professional and his 20 years of experience transporting cars showed.

The bad news is that the shipping schedule did not hold. They were about four days late picking up and a week late delivering. Apparently the shortest route from Detroit to Boston goes via Virginia and New Jersey. lol. I realize the delivery routes can’t be the shortest ones for many reasons, however the real problem was that the Fedex customer service people made all kinds of excuses along the way.

The bottom line is that when they say “the delivery times are not guaranteed”, they mean it. One of the customer service reps finally stated that “80% of our deliveries are on time.” Well, if accurate, this means that one in five cars is not delivered on time. If those are the odds you can live with, and you can live with possible delays, then this is a fine service. If not, you have the option to pay an extra $500 for a guaranteed delivery date.

SnomanNot that far go and get her!!!!
ed monahanWith the price of fuel going up every day, you need to check the prices quickly.
Tenn is only about 200 miles north to South and another 100 miles to Lexington, plus whatever you are south of the TN/GA border. Pick a nice day, it is beautiful scenerey thru that stretch.
PiddlerFly up and drive it back, you'll love it.
I bought my first one in NY,NY.
Didn't even want to stop when I get back to Al.
enzvoyCongratulations first of all.
Fly there and drive it home ,best feeling ever .

scuba stevewell turns out he is going to fly up and drive it back!! For a guy who has never driven one before he is going to get some good seat time behind the wheel.
ed monahanYou will see his smile two hours before he gets home. GREAT decision. He will be shocked at every gas station, rest stop and restaurant.

Looks like a very nice trip!
8 hours in a Prowler, is, in spite of how it may sound, AWESOME! I can't think of many better ways to spend a day

bjprowlerDad made a great decision that he'll never regret!....Tell him to be extra careful with the nose till he gets used to driving it...it takes a little getting used to.

And we'd all like to hear a "full report" of his "adventure" when he gets home....

bowton
I agree whole heartedly with BJPROWLER. Your dad will never forget his "drive home experience". A couple months ago I flew to Dallas, TX and drove the Woodward 2200 miles home to Southeastern Washington State. Without a doubt, the best road trip of my life. The Prowler drew so much attention at every stop. Even to the extent of a bus load of tourists near the Grand Canyon taking turns standing by it to have their picture taken.

The Prowler is one cool car and everyone loves them. Welcome to the POA, a great bunch of people and have a blast. Larry

CJCongratulations to your Dad on his new Prowler! He made the right decision!! Driving it is always the best way....and the most fun!
ed monahanBe sure to tell your dad that GenoTex drinks quite a bit and not to follow his route from Louisville since he is going to Lexington. lol
scuba steveOk so I just talked to my dad and he has had the car for maybe 2 hours now and he is a gitty as a litty school girl.
BeWareCongrats to your Dad on the new Prowler and welcome to the POA. The GA kats would love to get together with you and him. I can be reached at 770-924-6751. Mention to him he should consider attending the dream cruise. Attending a Prowler event increases the fun of owning a Prowler a 1000 fold. For us it has become a life changing experience.
