katatak	I plan on trailering my Prowler & trailer to some events, in a 24 foot Haulmark trailer. Need suggestions on the best/easiest way to secure them in trailer?? (yea I know drive it) I want to be able to load without making it a big project, i.e. like laying on my belly trying to secure frame to floor etc. Thanks freewillie

I also have a problem standing on my head to get under it to hook them up. I bought 4 axle straps and 2 of the snap hooks (rednecks use to hold keys to their belt loops) Before loading the car into the trailer I attach the 2 axle straps for the front thru the opening under the motor mounts and use the snap hooks to hold the strap to the car. I go ahead and cross the ratchet straps to the D rings and lay them out to close to where the should be. I drive the car in (top down) and climb out (car in N and parking brake on). Hook the 2 front straps to the axle straps hanging in an X pattern. Hook the rear to the crossmember under the transaxle with the other 2 axle straps (ones with the extra protection around the strap) and use the other 2 axle straps to the D rings. As far as not having to lay down, don't know how else to get to the cross member in the rear no matter where the car is when you start. I keep something to lay on in the trailer. I can get to the front with just reaching under the front in the trailer, but have to lay down to put the axle straps on. RPL	Axle straps over rear lower cross member with ratchets in the rear. Over the tire tie downs on the front. Easiest setup that I've seen.

Bubble wrap or biodegradable foam packing peanuts... Seriously though... What I found helpful when hooking the straps to the chassis, was using a large "plastic" mirror that I use to display my chassis at car shows. It really helps with seeing what you are doing. Another great advantage is that you can also shine a light at the mirror & reflect it to where you need it under the Kat instead of having someone else trying to squeeze into that same tight spot. I have also heard of people using wheel straps for the front of the Kat. These straps fit like a web over the tires & get secured to the D-Rings on the trailer floor. The only problem with this technique is that your Kat will shimmy & bounce as you go down the road. As far as the Prowler trailer, put that in first. If you run without the trailer, you are probably going to need to pull the Kat up further then usual for balance. You can get a hitch ball mounted at the front of the trailer & hook the trailer to that & then strap the wheels down. I know that Rich Ware had that done to a Haulmark trailer when he had it built. I am not an expert by any means I hauled my Kat last year to Wisconsin, & I do plan to do much more in the future. Don't worry about being told to "Drive it". When you go to a week long POA gathering, you will have plenty of time to "Drive It"... There are other Haulers who have a vast knowledge about this subject, & I am sure they will help you out here in no time at all. I just didn't want to volunteer their names Did a quick search. WildBill	These are Daimler Chrysler's recommended tie down points & information about ramp angle, sent to me by Bob Longstreth. He also instructed me to use towels to protect any parts of the body or frame that may come in contact with the straps. I purchased my straps from Summit Racing which have an anti-fray sleeve on them. It's gentler on the frame & obviously keeps the strap from being frayed. I opted to purchase straps which would withstand 10,000 lbs. They were only a few bucks more per unit. I know the Kat only weighs about 3,000lbs., but that is curb weight, standing still. What happens when you slam on your breaks or get into an altercation? The G-Force increases actually adding more stress & weight to those straps. Besides, what if you ever needed them to haul something else which would most likely be heavier? I included the information below of the tie downs & the extra sets of axel straps I purchased from Summit. By putting the axle straps on the chassis, they keep the rachet away from the Kat & actually make it a lot easier to tie her down as well. I hope this helps. MIKE GATLIN	To add to Bill's comments; I have always used the wheel basket (web of straps that fit over the wheel) but I cross the D ring straps to opposing D ring and the front of the car does not budge. Laddie gave me the idea. I will try to think of the supplier for straps and attachments he gave me, great service and quality stuff. The very best deal I found on ratchet straps is at Sams Club, around $14. each. In total, I use 4 ratched straps, 2 axel straps for the rear and 2 basket straps with D Ring for the front. As you are pulling your car into the trailer, have someone drape the axel straps over the rear frame and attach the ratchet strap to it before rolling the car the rest of the way in. In hopes of unloading the transmission in transit, I tighten all of the straps while the car is in neutral, set the parking brake, then put the transmission in park. Dave Mills has a great idea by keeping some lightweight coveralls in his trailer.
Ray	.. could alwyas just fill the rest of the air space in the trailer with packing peanuts if you don't want to get on your belly and tie the car down ... just a thought ...
eileen gugy	We have had great succes with a company called MAC'S custom tie downs. Found them in classified section of National Dragster. 800-666-1586 Make any length straps with soft covers, simply tie down thru your wheels, fleece covers absolutely did not mark the polished wheels. They make this setup for hard to tie down exotic cars.
