Let me put this out to all you tinkerers out there. Find a way to create a clamp that can be attached to the tube close to the gear housing and that attaches to the door that will hold the tube securely and I think for most all of us we will be out of the woods with the continued breakage of these regulators. I know Jan B. has a fix for the regulator that works, but this seems like a better alternative if viable. They aren't cheap but the problem is that one day they will no longer be made at all. For those willing to take on the challenge, I'm sure there will be some monetary reward in it for you from your fellow Kat owners. Wally This message has been edited by wallygator310 on 05-31-2005 at 08:11 PM Hopefully some one will come up with a product. Wally What are the Part Numbers? ($187 for alternator) Wally Thanks Wally, awaiting>>>>>>>>>wallygator310 As some of you know, I had the only available driver's door regulator replaced last week. What I would like to relay is the thoughts of the mechanic that replaced it. He said that he wished that DC would have used a clip at the end of the tube that goes into the regulator so that this would not happen. He said he could hold the tube in where it breaks at the regulator and the window would work perfectly. He states that the regulator main body (gears) are attached to the door but the tube with the screw mech. is not and as the plastic gets older and the pressure of the up and down motion goes on, the tube breaks away from the gear housing thus causing the clicking non-functioning. Seems like this mechanic has what it takes to be a mechanic and problem solver. Now we can take it from there. Thunder Preventative maintenance....I like it. pumpkin RADCAT RICH any pics of what your talking about ,so we all can be familiar with? ALLEY CAT While I support any fix or improvement that anyone can come up with,,,, on the other side, I wish DC would demand AVM [prowler window regulator supplier] to build another 3000 of each side of regulators for our needs down the road. rraite I wish DC would do a recall on our prowlers and fix
these windows with a better part!!!
richardMarty Usher Just ordered both regulators. Driver side on back order, passenger in stock. I will save originals and repair for future use. pumpkin quote:
