I can't answer about the plastic. On the leather I use Lexol. I get it at Pep Boys. They also make a prodcut for Vinyl. This message has been edited by BeWare on 05-04-2005 at 11:22 AM Add another vote for taking that plastic off the carpet - the adhesive will break down and cause the carpet to collect and hold dirt faster. ------------------ Not really, just trying to raise your score. Took mine off right away. This message has been edited by tz1238 on 05-04-2005 at 04:51 PM I don't like ArmorAll........especially on the dash....causes too much of a glare! I also use Meguiar's leather cleaner on the seats of my cats. rraite good day to all!!
i hope you all dont think this is to dumb of a question.
i bought my prowler last year (a 99). i did get lucky the
first owner took real good care of the kat only problem with her is some rock chips.
ok my question, the plastic on the carpet from the factory
is still there! is there a chance it will get so old it will not come off? or should i remove it?
ok just one more question im using armor-all on the plastic
and vinyl, what can you suggest for the leather seats?

richardbutchcee Richard, you could get another set of mats for daily use. Get another set and keep the best of the two for "show". Then plastic is on the mats or carpet? I'd pull it off if it was on the carpet if it was me. I just use a damp rag on my seats. rraite thanks butchee
yes its the plastic on the carpet from the factory.
i pulled on one corner of it ans its really on there!
the wife thinks i should remove it also, so the score
is two to one. lol
have a great day!!
richardobi-wan The protective plastic film on the carpets is a common covering used in the auto. business on new carpeting. It's only for shipping 'cus most new cars are driven at some point when delivering them to the dealership and that means folks with shoes(boots)that are dirty. So.. the film is put there to protect the carpet. It should be removed and the over carpets(throw-mats) then installed(there usually in the trunk or sold separately when you buy your new car)If you leave the plastic film covers in the car you will have "stuff" getting under it at the edges and over time this "stuff" will damage the actual carpeting. I have several overmat sets and change them from time to time. I then take the dirty set to a good car wash and have them steam or deep clean them then I let them dry over a long period of time. I rotate 3 sets. I do use my car a lot> I've got over 60,000 miles in 5 years. IT'S BEEN A BLAST !!!!!!
I hope this info. helps' Obi-Wanrraite thanks obi-wan
never thought that stuff might be getting under it!
that makes the score 3 to 1! lol
i cant let the wife know about this as i will get
how shes always right! lol lol
take care
richardTLRandall Meguire's also makes a great leather protector that I have used on my seats from day one.
2001 Mulholland Edition Prowler and Trailer
2004 Ford F-150 FX-4rraite thanks TLRandall
i will look at the mcquires also!
dang the score is 4 to 1! lol
wifey is winning!
richardMDProwler Leave it on!! tz1238 Get it off as soon as possible. I left it on a house trailer I owned for three months. Man, the carpet attracted dirt like a magnet after that. We had to shampoo it about ten times till all the adhesive finally was gone. anxiety2001 Don't just wipe your seats off! Make sure you use a leather conditoner after you clean them. Most offer some U/V protection also. This will help your seats stay looking new much longer!
-AnxietyCJ Sounds like you should remove it while you still can without it possibly being damaged by the adhesive. rraite thanks to all for the info!
i removed the plastic on the carpet last night!
the carpet is showroom new! but there is a very
lite sticky feeling on the carpet! i have a feeling
im going to have a cleaning nightmare for awhile!
cj if you see this since you dont like armor-all
what can you suggest?
thanks again!
have a great day
richard
