The third year we turned it into a dealer program that allowed them to have the display at their dealership for special sales, etc........whatever they wanted. Keep on sennding out more stuff, its GRRRRRRREAT! I used to complain about having to move (we've moved 11 times - 6 state-to-state moves with Bob's job) a great many boxes of car magazines. Then, I started searching the boxes for magazines that had Prowler articles, covers, ads, etc. Took me quite a while, as I paged through every magazine he had, but I came up with close to 100 magazines. The truck tow vehicle (which was built specifically to pull this rig) was crushed. The trailer is actually covered in sheets of vinyl graphics and it was stripped and redone for another program. The information boards and kisoks were stripped of their parts and returned to Mopar. The Prowler trailer belonged to Mopar and when they had their rig at the same event, they put the trailer in our display. The display that the concept vehicle sat on was specifically designed for the Prowler. It was tilted so you could see the interior of the car. Most of the time, we kept the driver dooor open for a better view. There was a large mirror on the display underneath the car so that you could see the undercarriage and powertrain easily. This display was actually for sale at one time and we relayed that info to Mike K. Not sure what happened, but Mike did not purchase it. It would have been a great piece of memorabiia to have, but they wanted quite a bit of money for it. I don't know if my former company still has it or not. Not sure what happened to the awning, either. This message has been edited by CJ on 03-28-2005 at 10:13 PM CJ Here are some pictures of the Plymouth Prowler Road Show that I managed for the company I used to work for. The first two years, it went to DC events, car shows, etc. etc. RADCAT RICH CJ, thanks for sharing all this historical stuff you have accumulated, horded, begged for,i will leave the rest alone CJ Aww, Rich........what are you talking about? I've collected them over the years (Bob gets a LOT of car magazines and has for years), through his job, through my job, a few from Ebay (but most just collected) and a few from some generous sharing by a friend! RADCAT RICH Just teasing CJ, glad some of you have all that to share with the rest of us!The history of the cat with all the pics, etc, is the birth and we are proud parents of the cat. CJ I know you are, Rich......and I'm teasing back! Simonsez CJ. I wonder what happen to most of that promo stuff? Example the trailer in the pics etc. I think I already know the answer...painted over and alot of stuff distributed or pitched. CJ The sports marketing company I worked for built many tractor/trailers for auto racing venues, etc. GM (Chevrolet, Pontiac, Ford, Harley Davidson, Prowler and many of them were built for GM's racing venues.......NASCAR and NHRA.
This was the first rig I managed. It was the Warren Johnson Show Car Roadshow - NHRA.
This was the second rig I managed. It was the Pontiac Racing - NHRA program. This was actually the second paint scheme we did for it.
Here are a few more that I found pictures of:
This was our very first program........GM Performance Parts - NHRA
The GM Restoration Roadshow - It went to car shows, World of Wheel....Autorama, corporate venues. It was just at the Detroit Autorama in March.
Here is a link to TMG's website....... TMG TucsonJer As a "newbie" I am blown away by all of this. Being a retired truck driver I can only imagine how much fun it must have been to be involved with the roadshows. Thank you so much for sharing. Jer WildCat Love the story bob told about the tow vehicle and black marks across the parking lot..........LOL RPL Yes. That turbo diesel did make a bunch of power after they modified it while parked in the lot of the SEMA Show. The loaded truck and trailer tipped the scales at over 30,000#. Truck had no problem pulling the rig. If fact he swore that it would run over 100 MPH with the Gear Vendors overdrive. He said just don't ask me how I know. Largent I have owned my Prowler for about 1 year now.
I had no idea Plymouth put on this type of traveling display specifically for the Prowler.
Thanks for taking the time to tell these stories.
