ONDPRWLHi POA members. I have been bitten by the Prowler bug and have been monitoring this sight for couple months and decided to join. I have read all the posts and have gained more Prowler knowledge than I could have imagined. Thanks to all of you that share your experiences. I am going to look at a used Prowler next week and am wondering what you would come up with for a check list when inspecting it. Just the Prowler related "quirks", not general automotive things, as I am a mechanic and body man for 25 years. It is a 2000 with 22,000 miles, new wheels, ball joint recall, and completely stock. On another note, yesterday I went to a local Chrysler dealership who had 3 new Prowlers last fall. One is now being driven by the owner, one was dealer traded, and a gold one is still sitting in storage. There were also two 2004 Vipers being stored. The sales manager gladly took me to see the them as it got him out of moving cars on the lot for snowplowing. We talked Prowlers and Vipers for a while. He said that they had moved quite a few of both over the years but interest had fallen off dramatically the last year and a half. What fun to go inside a building and see a Gold Prowler, and a red and black Viper stored under covers. Just begging to be driven!
pumpkinGo to search and type in " buying a new Prowler " a lot of info of what to look for. I hope this helps. Go for it, it will be the best thing you did in 2005.

Could you please send me an e-mail or a private message with the name of the dealer and the person you spoke with?

Thank you,

Kevin

P.S. If you think a gold Prowler looks good in storage, it looks even better on the road!!!

pumpkin gave you good advice. Also you can ask questions later and there is always someone that will be able to give you an answer. This is a great group of folks.

Black Tie 161Welcome...

Prowler-specific Things to look for:

Check front battery cable for corrosion especially pos.

Remove center caps and look for broken clips...then hot glue clips for reinforcement at a later time.

Look for tears or wear marks in top.

look for mudflaps and if not, look for rock damage on the side.

look for any ball joint leakeage. rear lowers and front uppers can be lubed

Check for leaking front shocks...common problem.

check fuel gage...some are fussy.

Check for bubbling wheel chrome on insides.

Other than that the Prowler is very reliable and good luck on your purchase!

superhappyfunballWow, Pumpkin,

Just went to your site for the first time. It's great. You have more answers for questions I've yet to even think up. Thanks.

ed monahanCheck under the nose for road rash in case Alley Cat drove the car. lol
TooHipCatONDPRWL,
Please read the posts above. Very good items to look for on your potentially brand new cat.
If you want the warranty try and purchase through a dealer. I couldn't find a dealer with a 97 so I went private sale. Of course I thoroughly checked the car out. Even a compression test, but you already said you were a mechanic...that's good!
Good luck to you and please let us know how you make out. I'm sure that there is someone on this fantastic site that can answer just about any question you may have.
Brian
