wayneinnj	Hello fellow Prowler Enthusiasts! My name is Wayne from New Jersey. I just purchased a 1997 Purple Prowler with 811 Miles on it, however, it looks like it has ZERO miles on it and like I just drove it off the showroom floor. She is beautiful; to say the least. Since I have found this website; my interest and passion for my new toy has grown. It is also great to know that I am in the company of other people who feel the same about this unique ride. Let me introduce myself, I have been the owner of two Bridgestone/Firestone Auto Repair Stores in the State of New Jersey for 23 years; with plans of expanding bays soon for the tuner market (FAST CARS). My hobbies and intrests have been racing cars, boats, and horses. Needless to say, I like anything that moves fast. My plans for this Prowler are to make it fast as possible but at the same time a pleasure to drive. I have some questions about the Prowler. I would like to obtain the best opinions and advice. 1) Does the front suspension on the 2001 and newer fit on the 1997 Prowler to make the ride softer? -- (it rides real hard in the front) 2) I read information on the "WonderBar" and I would like to know if it will help the '97 as well as it has helped the all the people online who rave about it? --Because it seems like the 1997 (the 1st model) drives the hardest. 3) I have a 3.5 cast iron block engine; I know that the late models have aluminium blocks and more HP;-- How much of a difference is there between the two? -- I am planning on building a 3.5 to drop in the car 4)Rear End Gears--What are the ratios; like 4-11 or a 390 --What are the ratios? 5)Likes to go FAST , any other ideas? Nitrous, Rear End Gears, ETC..???? As I mentioned, I have two Bridgestone/Firestones in New Jersey with many excellent mechanics. Marty Usher	Welcome to POA. You will get a lot of opinions here on various subjects. I'd sugets you use the search feature and type in a keyword and start reading. You may want to send a message to Larry Lord who developed the wonderbar. He can give you info on it from his (the manufacturuers) viewpoint an direct you to anyone with a 97 that has installed it. I don't have the gear ratio memorized but that info is also avaiolable with a "search" I've been the nitrous route - really fast but power only available in spurts. Great for the track but for everyday driving I have gone with larger displacment engine by Westech Automotive. Twin Turbos and superchargers are also available and enjoyed by POA members. WildCat	Welcome to the site. If you want to be fast, take Marty's advice and STROKE IT. You will be in good company with your FAST Cat If I remember correctly Stock gear ratio is around 3.93:1 if you get the Prowler Pro gears they are around 4.90:1, a 27% increase in gearing This message has been edited by WildCat on 11-17-2004 at 09:34 AM
CJ	Congratulations on your new Prowler and welcome to the POA. This is a great bunch of people and you will find whatever answers you need here. Everyone has their own opinions and you will find that just about any modification you can think of has been done/tried and someone will be able to help you. I've heard the Wonderbar works great. I have a 99 Black, but I don't find the ride objectionable. I also have a 2002 and the ride is different. Tire pressure also helps and there are other things you can do to the car to make the ride about 80% better than stock was. You have some great owners that live up in your area that you should contact and join in with. WildBill Simulcik and Pete Munson (Indy96) are just a couple that also live in NJ. BeWare	Welcome to the POA Family and great choice of color. If you switch from the Iron Block to the 3.5 Aluminum you may also have to swap the computer. I'm not sure, but its just a thought. I have the gears ( I got mine from another source who is no longer offering them) and mine are a 24% increase. For me it was both the safest and best performance bang for my buck. It shaved about a half second off the quarter mile and the car is much more responsive on the highway. My next performance move (that is if I can ever afford it) would be to go to a stroker motor like Marty. I personally don't trust NOS. I have a 99 Purple and like CJ do not find the objectionable. Rides like a street rod to me. ed monahan	Wlcome to the POA. I put a wonderbar on my 99 and noticed better handling, for sure. It does not tend to skip on rough roads while cornering, like it used to. I do not know if the ride is softer, however. You can change out the suspension but it is not just swapping the shocks, there is more to it than that but it can be done. Enjoy your new ride.
Kraut	Welcome abord. I have a '97 and just installed the Wonderbar last fall. I can tell you that it makes a very noticable difference. The ride is considerable less bouncy and noisy. I haven't yet done this, but I plan to change to non-run-flats when my original tires wear out. This is also reported to help the ride significantly. Enjoy your new ride.

TooHipCat	I too say...Welcome Wayne!!! I agree this site is comprised of the GREATEST people with a passion for Prowlers. I also agree that you may encounter various opinions on a variety of modifications. My opinion is...your doing all these mods to a first year Purple Prowler with less than 1000 miles??? firegabe	You've just put a lot of new wrinkles on your face from the fun. Go buy Oil of OLAY and drive the KAT!! DEAN @ Prowler Pro Is AWSOME !!! YOU MUST do this. Also change the exhaust I have the Borla Only because my neighbor would complain about the SS Muffler If you don't have my but head neighbor get it!! Gat a hard top if you can.
