wallygator310Just had the drivers door window regulator go out, making that clicking noise when the window goes down and up that so many of you have had in the past and have wrote about on the board. Called one of the 2 dealerships in the area to discuss it with them and see if they had a certified prowler tech. The 1st dealership service writer said they did have a certified techie and that in his 20 twenty years in the business he never had a window regulator in a prowler go out and it could be something else. What else would make a loud clicking noise in the door when the window goes down and up, I said? Well I guess you know not where I'm taking the Kat! 20 years of Prowlers, what a massed produced car we have, must be tens of thousands. Needless to say the other dealership will see all my business.

Wally

meancatI had the same problem with my 1984 prowler(but I think that one was a V-8)

Now in all fairness ... and although the statement may sound too funny ... lets consider that a. they really have been in the service business for 20 years. b. that they have never actually "seen" a Prowler let alone worked on one, and c. therefore, based on the above, he wasn't such a goofball after all? OK OK .. he probably STILL is and I wouldn't take my car to him either based on his position, but still ... trying to find the "truth" in his misleadings.

obi-wanAs a clarification, the window regulators are very similar to a Grand Cherokee. I helped do mine under warrantee(drivers side) There sort of weird but not impossible. A good dealership(union trained) journeyman interior tech. with just a couple of years as a journeyman should easily be able to replace and adjust the regulator. I had never seen that type of unit before and the tech. that was doing mine had not ever done a Prowler unit but he was very familiar with the type. Seems they go out a lot on the Cherokee and he had done a lot of them. l looked at the instructions in the "big" repair book and I think I would tackle mine now that it's out of warrantee. I realize I have a large table of experience but this ain't rocket science. There's not much that can really go wrong when you replace the regulator. It's hard to get it really messed up. Hope I helped, Obi-Wan
catfishit was something else, a 1984 plymouth reliant tech.wallygator310.regs are still on nat.b/order.yours can most likely be repaired, save yourself.500.00-email me after you remove yours.you can also do a search under-window regulator repair.the fix is in there.its easy,if your mech.inclined.its amazing that dealers cant figure out why there service depts have such a bad reputation.
