rsterling78Long before I got the real thing, I had a toy Prowler. I still have it. It sits on my desk at work. It's one of those toys with the pull string out the back to make the thing go.

Besides the fact that most real Prowlers have a V6 instead of big ol' rope sticking out through the license plate to propel the vehicle forward, I've noticed something about my toy Prowler: the little plastic windshield has a single wiper that is located off-center a bit instead of the standard two wiper arrangement.

Somehow, knowing how un-authentic this is, I feel like a fraud having this anatomically-incorrect toy Prowler on my desk. I can imagine if someone from the POA ever found themselves in my office, they'd say, "Hey what kind of toy car is that? It looks a lot like a Prowler, but it can't be. That single wiper is a dead giveaway. Impostor!"

Why do I have these feelings?

blackcatNot sure why you have those feelings however break the one wiper off and it will look like most of the prowlers on the road. No wipers at all.....
rsterling78The wiper is actually molded into the plastic windshield.

prowlrmanHey...I actually have one of those models on my desk at work too...and I looked today and just noticed for the first time it has only one wiper arm...so maybe we have a "collector's item" !!!
CJNah.........we'd all say, "Wow! Where did you find that one..I need it for my collection!"

However, there is another thread here that touts taking off the wipers, so maybe you should remove the one that is on there and put RainX on it!

ALLEY CATDr. Sterling - why not do an operation on it? Maybe your not that kind of doctor? We have several docs on this site qualified to either extract, reset, rib crack, lazer cut, and even one in 'Bama who can talk to your model toy about it's obvious problem,,,,,,,,,,,,
BeWare I am familar with the model you describe and you have not been ripped off. What you have is a model of the concept Prowler which in fact did have only one wiper. If you look closer you will see many many other differences.
Sop please don't feel bad anymore
bbcarEnjoy that little Prowler as some of those toys are getting hard to find, I have about 20 or so Prowlers and Ertl's promo and their 1/18 are both models of the prototype, Anson and Eagles Race are models of the actual Prowler,as is the Danbury Mint car. The 1/64 cars come in all sorts of variations. To me they are all worth collecting, I even have a pink one 1/24 scale with a button on the side that when you push it, the car rev's its engine then runs across the floor even shifting gears then screeches to a halt with brake lights on.

prowlrmanBarry...I also have the same one with the reving engine sounds in my office...only it is in Prowler purple. It was made in 1997 by Empire Industries..and I just noticed that it also only has one wiper arm. Everyone comes into my office and plays with it for a chuckle when they are having a hard day. Mine actually has a label on the bottom of it that says " Plymouth and the Plymouth Prowler Concept Vehicle are trademarks of Chrysler Corp. USA and are used under license by Empire Industires Inc. @Chrysler Corp. 1996"
tangled up in BLUEI could be wrong, but I think the original "concept Prowler" had the odd shaped windshield, one wiper and the rubber rear fender rockguard was missing.....

Larry you are 100% correct. Just A few of the many other differences. The hood on the concept was hinged at the front. It had a power retractable softtop, hence the trunk had two different openings. Kind of like a deck lid within a deck lid, Different headlights with the side markers built in. Different bumpers. Front fenders are different. And that only scrathes the surface of what is different.
I would love to be able to get my hands on one of the concepts.
