jim There are NO significant modifications required to bring a US car up to Canadian standards. All you need is daytime runnings lights (a module is about $30) and a safety inspection. The car will not get seized at the border. You just fill out a form, pay the required tax (GST) and you'll be on your way in 15 minutes. You then have 30 days or so to get the safety and running lights. Then you register the vehicle in your province (and pay PST). Overall, other than paying the taxman, it is a painless experience. jim tks again No you do not. jim Speedo's do NOT have to be changed (they already have both mph and kmh, NO emmisions issues, No fuel cap change and NO seat belt change. This message has been edited by Wayne Finch on 08-24-2004 at 09:48 PM all the questions have been answered.... i've just joined and already benefited from being a member... tks again wayne When I first read: Speedo's do NOT have to be changed I thought it was a post about Meancat at the Hot Tub challenge at Bob & CJ's during the Dream Cruise. alniri New to forum although I have been reading posts for the last couple of months.
I am looking at buying a US Prowler which is for sale in the Toronto area - approx 5000 miles. I know about the usual problems - warranty, bumpers and drl's. Are there any other issues I should be looking at?
Do US market prowlers generally command a lower selling price in Canada versus the made for Canada prowlers? If so how much less.
What would be a fair price in the canadian market for a 2001 prowler with 5000 miles? Is there anyone in POA that can run a carfax for me?halicat i'd like to know what you find out.... i'm in the same boat...i do know that the vehicle gets seized at the boarder for 3 days...i've been told it could cost up to 4000.00 to get a us unit modified to cdn d.o.t. specs.. Wayne Finch US and Cdn spec cars command similar pricing depending more on the economy than anything else. A couple years ago, Prowlers were cheaper in Canada and now are a bit more expensive. alniri Do you have to replace the bumpers to Canadian spec bumpers in order to pass the safety inspection? halicat i'm not sure about the bumpers...the speedo to read km's , emmisions, daytime run lights, fuel cap ( must read in english and french ). seat belts, but i think these are more of an issue with the older cars....keep me posted on what you find out.. halicat thanks wayne !!! you've brightened up the pict quite a bit...my info was from a monteral customs broker.... things must be different in quebec
