butchceeI remember reading that U-haul didn't have a trailer for the Prowler, but someone said they got one on.
Anyone ever tow with a U-Haul trailer?

------------------

Yellow is DCOOLEST

George MaxeyYep. When I first bought my car, I used a uhaul to tow the car from West Palm to Daytona. You just can't go very fast, but it will work.
Good Luck
George
butchceeThanks George--did it fit OK?
01ProwlerJust tell them you are going to use it to haul an 87 mustang and they will give you the trailer.
It will fit fine. The only issue you may have is getting the tie downs over the front wheels with the fenders on, you may have remove them.

Good Luck!

TooHipCatButchcee,
I have used U-Haul's full auto transport before. It was excellent for my tiny Mustang but I DEFINITELY WOULDN'T recommend it for transporting my own or anyone else's Prowler. Not only the fact that the Prowlers tire size would not fit on the separate rails of the U-Haul trailer but I believe you would do extensive damage to the Prowlers front nose taking it on and off. In addition to the vehicle hold down straps which encompass the front and rear tires.
The "Ryder" version of the full size Auto transport is the BEST!!! The only drawback is that you have to rent one of their trucks to tow it with. That's one of their rules. Their trailers are made of aluminum and completely tilt to allow easy on and off.
Good luck on trying to find the right trailer. Doesn't really sound as if I was of any help.

Brian

01ProwlerThe Uhaul worked fine for me and you can use it behind your own vehicle. I'm talking about the complete trailer not the tow dolley... You might have to jack up the tongue of the trailer when unloading/loading. I forgot to throw that in.

BTW a Prowler is much smaller than a mustang, so your prowler will be fine.

They won't give you the trailer if you tell them it's for a prowler.

TooHipCat Sorry...I didn't know you were going to use it to haul an 87 Mustang. "01" is right...it will work fine for that. Just be careful getting out of the car when it's up on the trailer. You don't want the bottom of your doors to scrape. Try to remember to release (fold down) the trailers fenders before you drive it up.
Good luck again.
Brian
butchceethanks guys-all good info. I guess I'll just have to rent one and see if I can get it on--or just drive to the track.
davidnAl,

Here is what you need..

Texas roll back

butchceeMaybe After I move David. I'm looking at some property with an acre of land in SC. No place to park that where I am now in NY.
davidn
CJWhat? Moving? You're going to leave those wonderful winters of NY??
butchceeCJ, it's not the winters I don't like,it's the traffic and taxes. The farthest south I've lived is Virginia for 9 years....Just slightly milder then Long Island. SC ought to take some getting used to with the humidity and frequent rain. Nothings in stone yet and after Arlene just spent a week in Ga. with her daughter, she's not too keen on the deeper south...We'll see where I end up.
REBELBOBWe towed from Pa. to Deadwood, S.D. and ran between 70 and 80 mph all the way. The local U-Haul dealer looked up the correct trailer based on the car. It worked great.
butchceeThanks!!!
mcrealtyI used a u-haul trailer. I towed last year from mid Florida to Prowl'n the Smokies and back. It got pretty squirrelly between 70 & 80 mph, smoothed out around 85 (didn't try that to much though. The guy at u-haul central said to make sure it was a newer model trailer.
Marc-Colo-99Hey Al
Just drive it to the track. Nothing like limpin' the car home after a few good runs.
I'll bet Laddie has a trailer available if you need it for the return trip. Course maybe Bob and CJ will show up with the POA Rescue Vehicle.
butchceeHey Marc--Ida's place is about 3 miles from the track, but I'd have to hitch a ride home--about 60 miles if something broke. My thinking was that the car would run better cold--and I could bring some ice to pack the intake and turbo tubes between runs if I towed with my Jeep. I heard about the rescue vehicleSeems like Bob and CJ have come to the rescue a number of times.

Marc-Colo-99Hey Al, good luck Friday night. Not a bad idea to have a cold motor AND a ride home just in case. I for one am anxious to see how your car runs. Hope you don't hurt anything as these cars a meant for driving and you've been without yours for to long.
ALLEY CATGood luck Al,,,,,light 'em up and posts some good times!
CJAl.......traffic and taxes I understand! Move to Michigan! Unfortunately, the official POA Rescue Vehicle will not be able to be in attendance, so you'd better make sure you don't break anything!!
